Shell Nitro + any feedback

Featured Replies

I run it in mine all the time, in fact on only two occasions in the last 10,444 miles have i put the normal shell fuel in my car. I can feel a difference between vpower and fuel save, but no discernible difference between vpower and nitro+

Never used supermarket fuel. The mrs' car runs on it day in day out and it smokes like crazy on cold start up.

It's not just performance and better mpg thought, it does have cleaning agents in to help keep everything inside clean.

It's definitely not snake oil, but here it's nearly 7p per litre more than standard, and it's whether you think that's worth it.

I assume it doesn't contain NOS?

I always try to use tesco momentum, filled up today and it's dropped in price slightly to 134.9, standard stuff was 130.9 worth the extra 4p if you ask me.

+1 for tesco momentum. I put she'll fuel in and it knackered my carbon canister. £100 for it to be replaced.

Shell confirmed the fuel was below their expected quality and offered to pay the bill. First and last time I use shell.

Well, have been continuing to run the car on V Power Nitro+.........not sure whether it's down to the change in fuel (from Asda unleaded), me learning to drive the car better, or the engine loosening off more (got it at about 11K, now at 20K ) but I am regularaly seeing 3 mpg in my normal commute improvements (from 30 mpg to 33mpg) in consumption and almost 5mpg on long haul motorway trips (from 35mpg to 40mpg) Generally getting almost 400 miles out of a tank.

Only problem is cost, but the car seems to run nicely on it, so will stick with it!

I tried both v power and momentum and really didn't see much difference but then again my commutes are never really that far apart from the short trip up the mway to work....There are loads of webpages stating the total cost down to the average consumption on the stuff. I just started filling up at esso and have seen the counter go up no down slightly....but then i am on a save run and am not even close to hoofing it.....performance wise, the car have enough power so really have never seen an ounce of difference....

I regularly achieve over 400miles out a tank running on normal supermarket unleaded (sainsburys). Tried the new shell fuel and can't say I noticed any difference in economy or power (and mine is remapped).

In an attempt to save some pennies.....have decided to run a half dozen tanks of Shell regular fuel save unleaded through the car and see what differences that throws up.....had run the tank down and filled up with fuel save 2 days ago.......car feels fine and no noticeable differnce in performance (not surprising really), inital thoughts....mpgs look down a couple.......but early days, will wait unitl a few more tanks of this stuff go through and see what the results are measuring the brim to brim....

I recently started filling up with Esso regular and found it to be far better than shells own.....Im not hoofing it in anyway nor am i being light footed.....Now i have filled up for a couple of weeks now on Esso which made me come to the conclusion that there fuel is a little bit more mpg friendly than shell.... My overall best fuel is always going to be Aral in Germany.....410 miles before fill up with still a little bit more left in the tank......

If you try the same with a number of brands you may find another is better or similar to Esso whilst another may find conflicting results.

I'm a firm believer of trying a few tanks of everything and running what gives the best mpg and performance combo.

For me that's never been any of the premium fuels.

It might be the fact that the roads are quieter at the moment what with it being school holidays but I've stuck with the Nitro stuff for the last couple of months & definitely seeing an improvement in fuel consumption & mid-range pull.

Probably dreaming it, but using the not-entirely-scientific method of resetting the avg fuel consumption at every fill-up I'm definitely seeing bigger numbers on my usual commute.

Those numbers still plunge like a lead-filled 747 when I plant my right boot mind you..

I got 480 out of a tank of nitro+, think I need to put my foot down more!
