Octavia II Estate (TDI140) - suggestions for new rear shocks please?

Featured Replies

I think I need some new rear shocks (or else the Rear ARB has gone - but it just went through the MoT, so I doubt that) because it seems to roll and "tuck in" more on left hand bends than it did when I bought the car 16,000 miles ago (it has now done 90,000 miles).

My first thought is adjustable KONI Reds on full soft settings because I found they worked well on the previous Golf IV estate - but any other suggestions please?

NB - for a standard road car, not for "competition" use or likely to be lowered.

Thanks in advance.

I 'de be inclined to fit standard good make shocks ie; bilstien/ Monroe/ kayaba and fit a thicker bar with poly bushes if it's the same as the 4x4 they come in 4 thicknesses as factory issue -- do a search there's some info on here

Unless you are planning on replacing all four so they match, then I'd just get OEM ones. They are not that expensive from the main dealer, or you could try TPS if you have one near you.

Have you had your rear toe and camber checked?

If one wheel is out the handling can vary drastically as the weight transfers on to that wheel.

Since your car is over 5 years old, SKODA OEM Economy shocks, cost next to nothing.
