Buying a Monte Tech - Questions...

Featured Replies

We test drove a 105TSI the other week, it was pretty quick to be honest, pulled to 70+ on the test drive with ease it was only when we looked at the speedo we pulled back on the gas! It cornered quite reasonably on the sports suspension too. The TSI in 85 & 105 are quick and eager to please to be fair.

I can't comment on the diesel equivalent but the TSI will be much more refined and enjoyable to drive. :)

Or you could have just bought a normal Monte and retrofitted a far, far better used Columbus (IMO), and had the ability to spec options

You can't fault the offer though for a brand new Monte 105TSI really... BT & Satnav with Maxidot.

Seemed like a really good deal for anyone after the fastest TSI and slightly better spec.

I agree, but the lack of the ability to add options is letting the car down in some ways.

You get a Fabia with maxi-dot and Satnav, but it still has those cheap three plastic dials high up the dash where they are visable for the heating/aircon.

Adding climatronic makes the interior a better place IMO, would also match the satnav unit below them a lot better.

The stock ones are similar to the dials being fitted 14 years ago.

I completely agree with the naff looking air con controls. They could of updated them to use the same as the Citigo controls, or just make them look a little more premium.

I had a monte carlo on finance with the free servicing included, paid it off 18 months early and saved over £800. I hve ordered a new motor and was told to qualify for the free servicing I would need to take finance and have it for a minimum 6 months.

I have the 1.6d 105ps and it's plenty fast enough, on a run I can average 50+mpg

If you paid it off quicker, did they still allow the 3 years free servicing to carry on?

when i ordered my new motor a couple of weeks ago I was offered the 'free' servicing option if I took finance, the only stipulation is I must have the finance for a minimum of 6 payments, so in answer to your question I still have two years free servicng on the Monte Carlo

they've changed that recently then as it was recently just one payment.

I imagine they got burnt on that once or twice... ;)

I bought my Monte on finance, but there are pitfall I was not made aware of. Yes you can pay off anytime you want. That's the good news. The bad news is that it cost £250 to set up and a £60 fee at the end. This was not mentioned. There are also fee is you change stuff like number plates. Also don't believe the balloon finance figure of the car, the interest charged is on the full amount (the figure you pay off + the deferred future value (so if the car is £12k, and you pay 2k deposit, and future value is 5k, will pay £5k/36 + 8%ish interest on full £10k). These hidden figures outweigh the free servicing. Enjoy.

I was charged £125 set up fee and a £60 option to purchase fee, I paid £204pm for 15 months, then a final settlement figure of £9386, I had a deposit of £2202 making to total paid £14660.

Invoice price was £13523. interest was 6.19%

The OTR price was close to £15k, but I had the 0% VAT deal, so even after the finance I think I broke even
