Buying a Monte Tech - Questions...

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Went to view a new Monte (Tech) today for the missus. We drove the TDI and loved it, but we're not against the idea of a TSI as it's a grand cheaper. We did like the way the TDI drove and I assume the TSI will feel a little slower on the road?

Anyway, cutting to the chase, the dealer has offered us the 3 year service pack on finance, and is pushing us a bit towards finance in order to get this deal. We could pay cash, but even with the interest charges, the free servicing works out cheaper!

I am wondering, if we take out the finance, can we settle it up immediately without charge (and still get the free servicing  )

Also, the dealer is offering £200 discount max, and says there is only £400 in the car for them. Does that sound about right? I know the tech is cheap, but I thought I'd get a bit more discount than that and I was certainly talking turkey with the salesman!

Thanks all in advance!

Service deal with finance is a Skoda thing so can get it anywhere. You can usually pay it off after several months but not straight away. It works out cheaper that way.

Need to know how much he quoted and what options etc you're after as well as which TSI engine. Of you do short journeys a fair bit them diesel is pointless.

The old tdi vs tsi boils down to your usage if your doing the distance TDi if your not the TSI

I have the 86ps monte i wouldn't say it feels overly slow

Yes you can - I have it in writing from VW Finance that you can withdraw from the finance agreement within 14 days, or request a settlement figure after that, and exercising either option won't affect the free servicing deal.

Good news re the servicing then! I think we need to drive the 105 TSI to compare to the TDI. The torque of the TDI was fab though! No options were specced as these Monte Techs are one spec only according to the stealer..

I got a £1000 off 1.2 tsi so paying £10990 plus service and free gap ins would not budge on the 1.6 td

I was hoping for £500 off..

Another question - as the Tech has BT and Nav, will it get Maxidot too as standard? How about steering wheel controls?

My other half just placed his order on a Monte Carlo Tech TSI :)

Should get it in the next month or two, since SUK havent actually imported them yet!

I had a monte carlo on finance with the free servicing included, paid it off 18 months early and saved over £800. I hve ordered a new motor and was told to qualify for the free servicing I would need to take finance and have it for a minimum 6 months.

I have the 1.6d 105ps and it's plenty fast enough, on a run I can average 50+mpg

If you paid it off quicker, did they still allow the 3 years free servicing to carry on?

I couldn't find the Tech on Drive The Deal, only the normal Monte :(

As of today's date/time the DTD site is not offering any Skoda models

Will get maxidot but no steering controls you use right stalk for bluetooth. You cannot add options

Still trying for a bit more discount.. My dealer won't budge (which is a shame as I have bought two other cars off him for a decent discount).

Might try some other places next week. I'll report back fellow Briskodians :)

Yes, if you can get more discount from another dealer, he will no doubt be easier :) . They always say that THIS is the final price!!! :D .

I still think there is more than £200 discount in a £13,000 car with no P/X.. Especially as the Fabia has been out quite a while now.

Have you got it in writing about the Maxidot Skoda1982? The dealer I saw said it had a trip computer, but couldn't confirm it was Maxidot.. I guess no one has taken delivery of Tech yet to confirm?

Apparently not BossFox. I was told the same too. Shame as I would have liked MFSW....

Frankly i prefer the 105ps TSi to the equivalent TDi; its not as efficient but it is a bit more lively and outrightly quicker.

I had one as a courtesy car in fairly dull SE plus spec (some nice toys but carp suspension) and it was actually quite a hoot to drive because theres enough power for it to be quite quick but not enough to totally corrupt the not particularly great chassis; the front brakes are also the same size as the vRS ones and do a more than adequate job of stopping the 105ps car; they arent up to snuff in the vRS.

The 1.2tsi is a fun little package and feels eager to go.

But then it is noticably lighter than the 1.6 diesel and all that weight is lost from the right end, over the front wheels, which makes it feel more nippy and responsive.

NO options
