As I was driving into work this morning, I noticed the backlight on the rev counter flickering. It was only around the start and end of the rev counter. it would stay on for a while and then flicker off. The same thing happened on the way home, it seemed to be governed but the movement of the car. On a bad stretch of back road, it went off and has stayed off

My Questions are

1. Is it just a bulb replacement and that's it
   
2. Can you replace the bulb on these clusters
   
3. with the intermittent flickering could it be a loose connection
   

I don't have access to a vcds machine, to scan the car.

It's only out of Skoda warranty since 15th of march

The Car is 2011 Greenline II 1.6TDI

There is no bulb, its all surface mount LED's. Only official fix is to replace the whole instrument cluster, and as your car is just out of warranty it is now a visit to the dealer ASAP for a warranty claim. If the car has always been main dealer serviced, and given the fact the warranty has just run out a good will gesture should be forthcoming.

I know the local dealers service guys pretty well, so i'll be stopping by on my way to work in the morning !!!
