Dodgy climate control

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Got my car back from the belt change but I noticed something that I dismissed when I first got it, even when set 16c it was still warm in the car.

Well today whilst waiting to pick up the kids I could feel both vents for thr front seat passenger were blowing warm/hot air.

Any suggestions before back to the garage??

Cheers

Steve

Mine is going in on Thursday to be 'fixed'.

Let's see and what they try and charge me for, under warranty!

Well any feedback would be appreciated, I take it yours is doing the same??

I have a 12 month warranty supplied with the car when I bought it so they will be coughing up for mine if it needs parts etc!

Mine just doesn't sound right, no cold air and a strange hissing sound.

I'm sure they'll go out of their way to claim it's a non-warranty fault. This is the first thing my car

will have been in for, and may well determine whether or not they get my business for my next

Fair point mate, I can't understand any dealers problem with warranty work! I used to work in a Citroen franchise as a Tech ( over 10 years ago) and as we all know they are not the best for fault-less running hence we did loads under warranty everyday, the dealer gets all costs including book time labour back from the manufacturer so why they make a fuss I don't know!!

You are very low on refrigerant then. Get it checked out.

Failing sensors are quite common I think. I've had warranty work on my vRS to sort climate control issues. First time passenger side was always much colder than driver side and then next problem was I couldn't get any warm air anywhere and fan wouldn't blow hard.

Sarge.

When the cambelt is changed, a lot of the system is disturbed to get access to remove the belt. Several things are possible, first check the drive belt for the compressor is in place correctly, and then second its possible the gas has escaped from a joint that may have moved when the engine mount was removed to get the belt off.

Mine started like that warm at 16 degrees took to the dealer and had the condenser changed faulty pipe, under warranty

Thanks very much guys, really encouraging replies there.

Sarge- that does seem the way mine is heading, was it a big job to sort out?

Darnell- it's basically doing what yours did, just only passenger side at the moment but will check on other settings like feet, windscreen only etc to see what's what.

Right guys had the car to my indy and they are not sure whats causing the temp to stay warm on passenger side.

I've decided I will have a look myself but can anyone tell me where the temp sensor for passenger side is located? I know there's one centrally in the dash.

I will also remove the side console trims to see what the motors on the distribution box are doing or not doing as the case maybe!

Any help appreciated

Check the motor for air temp mixture flap.
