Coilovers and Wheels

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I am thinking of putting coilovers on my car, and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions? I want to spend a maximum of £400 on them.

Also, what size wheels would suit the fabia best? A lot of my mates have been saying that 16's would be too small (as in 17's would look better), what size are most of you guys running?

ThankS :D

Standard wheels are 16's so all your friends are stupid for saying they'd be to small!

Coilover wise - id stretch a little further and go for AP's, they seem to get really good feedback!

When they say two small they mean as in 17's would look better, not as in 16's wouldnt be useable :D Thanks rob :)

Ive now edited the orginal question :)

16s are standard on a VRS, not a 1.2 classic, they run 14s.....

I can message you about some steelies I am having refurbed at the moment

Save up and spend a little more on decent coilovers.

I have AP's on mine with 16" - all good

Ap's on 16" here. Good look :)

U can get aps for less then £400 go onto gnj motorsport mate about £385

Ap's on 16" standard - again all good, its only the arch gap that fustrated me. And the understeer haha

Yep AP's...worth spending the extra £50

Had JOM's, binned them. Now on AP's with a Whiteline rarb, car's transformed now. !7's look great on the Fabia  My AP's were £350 and the rarb was £141.99 from Awesome gti.

I recognize those wheels Bowen

Really happy with them kenny!

APs and Whiteline RARB seems to be the weapon of choice for most.

I was looking at JOMs had them on my mk3 golf and they were spot on!

I can't fault my JOMs to be honest and especially for the money. Done about 6k on them now

IMO, 17s would show off the lack of brake disk size too more than a 16inch (although I guess a 'closed' wheel face might solve that), so I'd sway towards 16s personally.

Thanks for the replies guys! The only thing that puts me off with the AP's is that you can only go down 65mm :/ And ive got 70mm arch gap on the rear as its only a 1.2 :giggle:

But if you put 16s or 17s on you won't have that much of a gap to start with

you wont really get the tyres to tuck up in the arch on the rear with aps. you guys say about 16s and 17s but with the correct tyres isnt the rolling diameter the same? if so arch gap to the tyre will be the same no matter. the larger face of a 17 does looke nicer though i think even though i run 16s.

JOM's are pap. Go for AP's , £385 off GNJ motorsport absolute bargain, had JOM's on my mk4 golf and they were horrid, if you drove over a fly you would feel it through the car the shocks are so hard and the ride is so uncomfortable, can't fault my AP's they are excellent, 16's look best IMO, 17's just make the car too high off the ground.
