Proceeds of crime vehicles.....

Featured Replies

1) Saw a Top Gear the other day when Clarkson pitched an Evo against the army and the army ended up blowing 50 shades of shyte of it. (with 50 calibre ammo) Apparently it was a "proceeds of crime" and had been ordered destroyed.

2) Saw a Police Interceptors the other day. One of their cars got written off. "Ah, but not to worry as we've just confiscated a Golf R32, so we can commandeer that."

2 sounds a much better way to go really, IMHO, as surely there's less burden on the police budget.

- or -

instead of destroying said confiscated cars, sell them and use the proceeds of the proceeds of crime to fund new vehicles. The Evo must still have been worth a few quid.

Don't they do this in America, police auctions? Sounds like a good idea especially when police budgets are being squeezed.

They sell vehicles, boats, planes, houses etc here as well. Or try to.

Some vehicles seized are ringers and the like, and can not go back on the road or be sold to the public.

Engine Numbers, VIN etc removed, Imports or re-imports etc.

Beware of Spam sites, but there are plenty of genuine ones.

The difference being is the R32 will have been standard and the Evo clearly wasn't.

The eve, to run by the police, would be a waste of tax payers money in fuel alone, never mind running repairs and trying to understand what the previous owner had modified it with.

How come our Police peugeot's don't have " Taken from a Scrapyard " down the side

Saw the police R32 on youtube the other day. UK police is pretty hardcore lol. I wonder if they can drive it though. Not quite the same as an Astra...

Local police bought two Passat R36's. They can't drive 'em for ****. One was totalled last summer when the officer miscalculated an overtake and hit a LCV head on, and the other straightened a bend trying to catch me driving my Merc. Only 10% of traffic police officers have the necessary high speed pursuit training. Which sucks when you put them in a car with 300bhp and a top speed of 160 mph.

Most of them get their licence while they're at the academy. Zero driving experience and they get thrown into a fast car. No wonder everything goes to hell. Also, Sweden has the highest number of totaled Police cars yearly in the EU. I mean, it took me six years and two motorsport licenses to learn to drive as well as I do. Can't be done in two months.

Manchester Police couldn't handle this... http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-16716617

Ouch... Thats gotta hurt. Seems you guys need to give your cops some high speed training as well. I've never understand what they gain by not doing it.

Its really stupid actually. A few months ago there was a huge mess when an officer died in a quad bike accident. You can drive them with normal b class (car) licence over here. Anyway, he was given no additional training and he accidentally put it in first instead of reverse, accelerated over the edge, fell onto the ice, got the quad over him, broke through the ice and drowned. They were unable to resuscitate him.

Accidents will happen and they do need to train,

just sometimes they are in the right place at the wrong time.

Scene of the Accident will just be at the foot of the hill and around the corner in my pictures.

Lovely road.

Accidents will happen and they do need to train,

Oh look, Greater Manchester Police, again.

Can I have my money back their "training" please?

What are the chances these two will be on the list to claim compensation? ;) ;)

They'll have to repair/replace the vehicle as well (public money)

What's the betting there'll be no "Taking without consent" and no "driving without insurance" charges brought either.

Prime example of joy riding.

I think you are quoting me on another subject and post. #11.

It was 'Northern Constabulary Police Officers that were Training and in a Collision with an Ambulance in Scotland.

Were the Manchester Officers not possibly committing an Illegal act?

No idea the outcome of that investigation or actions taken against the officers.

PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland)................Where do the bad guys go? Oh wait yea I said PSNI, sorry silly question. This was a 'patrol' car and is now (after spending a lot of money in Halfords) being used to improve road safety.... somehow lolololol :giggle:
