Interior loading - maximum length?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the maximum loading length available inside the Yeti is? By this I mean the length available from bootlid to dashboard by folding down the rear passenger-side seat as well as the front one.

The roof bars I have ordered are taking longer than expected to arrive, and I may need to carry a box approximately 1.9 metres long by loading it inside, but this will involve moving the baby seat to the other side and folding all passenger-side seats flat. I would therefore like to know if anyone has an idea of the length available before doing all this to measure if it will fit.

Thank you!

George

I've had 2.4M lengths of timber in the car on the "diagonal" with some space to spare.

My front passenger seat doesn't fold flat.

I suppose it depends on if anyone else needs to be in the back and the other dimensions but it should probably "go".

Fantastic, thanks a lot for the help! Top marks for the Yeti then, especially considering its external dimensions. There's no way I could have fit anything close to that in any of my previous cars!

I have also had 2.4M timber but usually put an old towel on the dash and run it over the boot cover, using old towels over the seat back tops. Works really well and has saved getting the roof bars out or the timber getting wet when it's raining.

Wow Johann, I have to say that's quite impressive! All of a sudden I am a lot less worried about the roof bars getting here on time, though I still do need to figure out a way to fit both the baby seat and SWMBO in the rear (middle) seat along with the box, albeit for a very short drive to the ferry...

Will let you know how I get on!

Also remember that the roof rails are not rated to carry much in terms of weight. I think it is a 100kg maximum. So you should carry heavier long loads inside the car.

And NEVER do this :giggle: :giggle: :

I think that the 100kg limit is a limitation of the roof bars rather than the roof itself - though I wouldn't try anything more than that on the roof anyway, no matter what JC thinks...

The box I am looking to carry is far less than that, much bulkier than it is heavy.

I don't know I think a helicopter weighs more then 100 kg...

They removed the standard roof rails, installed a specially made frame to support the landing platform, stripped out everything they could from the 'copter to reduce weight. And they pumped up the tyres to 80psi. !!Great publicity at the time... and it spawned this that went round the dealers ('copter part sectioned, no engine or gearbox etc)
