Removed my first engine head tonight

Featured Replies

Well, some of you have probably done loads already, but I have never personally removed a head from a block myself. ALL by myself....

Decided tonight to remove the head from my donor 924 - Engine had been running recently so I wanted to get it off before it deteriorated being static (now its definitely not running)

The workshop (car on slabs and breeze blocks due to gravel drive)

Intake side came off without too much of a battle. Just a couple of supporting bracket bolts tucked away in the depths which were a PITA

Head off - was easier (comparatively) to remove the downpipe from the manifold, than get the manifold off the head, due to access. I shall do it tomorrow though

What's left now - just the "van" part now. (The 2 litre is always claimed to be the "van engine" but in reality only the block is shared part. Top end is all unique to the porsche)

I always fancied a 924 project but unfortunately have far too many projects awaiting completion lol

How do you fancy coming and helping me with my cam cover. Diesel paid for and free board. ;)
