New Fabia vRS or 2nd hand Golf GTI

Featured Replies

Having had the vrs I wouldn't mind having the golf gti.

Been in a golf gti and it pulls a bit harder than the vrs other than that handling goes to the golf.

  • Even with a Cool Car out of Manufacturers Warranty, you might want a Warranty of some kind when splashing 15 grand or more Maybe more so than others when it is VAG Vehicles! http://www.autoexpre...

  • I had the same quandry and bought a 4 year old S3. I understand the owners of the vRS defending their purchases. It's only the ones that have had nothing but trouble with theirs who will publicly c

Thanks everyone for their input, will have to do some driving, having got an Octavia vRs Mk2 TFSi myself at present I am looking to replace the wife's car. Don't know if the Golf would offer much difference in the driving experience than the Octy, I know it's a newer evolution of the 2.0T engine but it sounds like it's less reliable than the original!

Am leaning towards the Fabia at present as it's a useful bit cheaper and the combination of small size, turbo engine and DSG sounds like a lot of fun to drive, as other's mentioned I would prob. go for extending the warranty. Granted in terms of looks I prefer the Golf ,if only it was available in some decent colours, and the interior looks so much nicer than the Fabia, also the boot space in the Golf is more useful.

Sounds like I could get caught with unreliability issues with either , although it seems like Fabias go wrong early whereas I could get caught with a Golf going wrong just outside the warranty period, hmmmmmmmmmm!

Just go for a good test drive first.

Because some people love how the mkII VRS Fab drives and some people think it's a bit boring.

Obviously a lot of owners are the former, I am the latter.

Good job we don't all like the same thing though. :)

Good luck with whatever you decide. They are quick, capable and refined.

5 Year warranty and then enjoy the fabia. If it breaks who cares. Sell it after four years so it still has 1 year left which makes it attractive as a second hand car. Peace of mind that a warranty offers is priceless. Saying that if your lucky and the car doesnt break down then the golf would be my first choice. This is all speculation and you woyuld be driving with fingers crossed in th golf more than in the fabia.

My money would go on the Fabia so i coulod enjoy it for 4 years without worrying about a single thing. Better though the golf probably is the fabia is still a great fun car and i doubt you would regret driving it and wishing you were in a golf.
