Columbus and Androids

Featured Replies

This topic has probably already been covered but as I am new to Briskoda I will just start again. when I bought my Superb 2 with Columbus, the garage installed my Samsung 5620 mobile. complete with phonebook and it all seemed to be straightforward. I now have a new Samsung Galaxy S3 - Mini and when I try to install it, the MFD advises that the phone is not visible (No compatible phone has been found). I have been told that

I will have to, somehow delete my old phone and its phonebook from the system before I can install my new Android, but I can't find any way of doing this.

Any suggestions?

you need old phone paired before you can gain access to menu to delete new.

But you can have 3 pairings at the same time.

if your car is 2010 or before, then you can't pair a phone which does not have rSAP. (Without module change)

Thanks for that. Doesn't sound too hopeful, but what exactly is rSAP?

It stands for remote SIM Access Protocol, which is when the car takes over access to the SIM Card in your mobile. A Nokia invention, I believe, once the only make that would pair with Skoda.

My Galaxy SIII was brilliant, did texts the lot - until I lost it:-( -back to my old HTC until insurance sorted.

Same here with the S3 LTE version. Mostly works perfect just that now and again I have to turn Bluetooth on the phone off and on as the car doesn't pick it up.

My SIII works wekll too, except I cannot get audio to work over Bluetooth at all.

Sounds although my problem lies with the car (59 Reg) rather than the Android which is new. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove an existing phone connection and phonebook from the system. At least that way I could find out if it is possible to install my new phone on a "clean" system.

Setup menu, phone menu, restore factory settings. Should clear all existing pairings.

I've been trying to remove an old pairing of and on for 2 years. In my phone set up menu there's no option to restore factory settings. There is only:

update phone book

delete call list

speed dial

I also notice that in the phone screen 'extras' tab, there are only 'turn off mic' and 'conference something or other' both of which are greyed out.

Any idea why I don't have the restore to factory option? The old pairing (from ex-owner) doesn't cause any undue hardship but the frustration at being apparently unable to delete it does. :wall:

Late edit: Having only had a compatible phone for a few months (SG3 which works fine) I just revisited this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/195713-delete-paired-phone/#entry2330193

and have now successfully removed the old pairing :)

Good news. Not sure why you don't have the option but suspect its module related. I have the 5k0 module which has this facility. You probably have the 5n0 premium module in your superb?

I'm not sure tbh, although if the 5n0 is the older module then probably, as it's 4 years old now. Anyway, I don't need the option now so it's all good

guys

recently changed phone to the xperia z and now i have problems keeping my bluetooth connection to my phone. I had no issues connecting to my RNS510 via Bluetooth in the past with my xperia S i.e. able to access call history and phone book.

With the xperia z, the connection drops after a minute or two. reconnect drops reconnects .. after 3-5 attempts, it stops and connection is totally gone.

When I pressed the phone button on the steering wheel, I will see the phone book being updated up to 400Plus entries and then cycle back to 0 and update again and the connection will disconnect when it hit 267 entries on the 2nd cycle.

I've done the following to no avail:

1. restore phone function on RNS510 to factory setting

2. when prompted by the phone, enabled the RNS510 to access my phonebook and history

I don’t think it's a matter of too many profiles but how do we delete profiles? Could not find this on the manual. I guess restore factory setting should do that?

What more can I do? I am also contacting sony incase it's a phone issue but wanted to make sure it's not a RNS510 issue

Anyone with similar problems who have managed to get a solution?

TIA!

Restore factory settings deletes profiles yes. I read somewhere that there is a limit on contacts, you seem to have a lot, so could that be your problem??

hmm but i had the similar number of contacts in my old phone and it connected without any issues. i read in the manual there is a limit. however, the only difference is the RNS510 will stop downloading if that limit is breached.

go into google play and download the following two apps by the developer android-rsap.com

Bluetooth Sim Access Install

Bluetooth Sim Access Profile

They should get your Galaxy S3 working

Once installed it should allow you to delete old profiles

thanks.. thou that solution is for HTC and Samsung makes.. not sony..

i tried fiddling with the stamina mode function to exclude anything relating to contacts without much success.. the search for a solution goes on

Reinstalled software for my Xperia z and can maintain connection and download phone book but whenever I wanna make a call..an error msg dial up fail will pop up!!! Arrrggghhh

this morning.. unpaired the car blue tooth from the phone.. on car.. pair again. .. permitted access to phonebook before car move off.. viola! it works again.. dont understand why but glad this is over
