ChrisRs Detail of Jaguar XK-R and Corsa VXR

Featured Replies

Sister and Brother in Law took us out for Dinner last night...So the least I could do was do some Paint Correction on his 10 year old Jaguar XK-R and a small Protection detail on my Sister's 2 year old Vauxhall Corsa VXR

Here are the pictures:

Jaguar swirl and small scratch removal via Scholl S3 and compounding pad with refinement via a finishing pad and Menzerna Finishing polish

LSP was DodoJuice Supernatural Hybrid Sealer/Wax

Ive Detailed it before but only waxed it...The paint was rock hard....at least the swirls have now gone and the paint 'jewelled' up nicely

EDIT:

Took some more while the light was better

Or maybe at The Malthouse in Rishworth - it must be about that time by now...

...not that I'm hinting anything of course.

I'm rather tied up at weekends in the foreseeable future

As soon as I can see a weekend free, I'll get it arranged Martin

OK...I might clean the wheels for that..LOL

Chris, Can I bounce something off you. I have some swirl marks & light scratches that could do with fixing. I've contacted a detailer local too me & i've been quoted £220 for detail & interior treatment/clean or £400 for paint correction plus the afore mentioned. The detailer uses the all the good stuff we know & love so I dont have any issue with the products (to my knowledge) but as a fellow detailer would you say this is a fair price or should I shop around? I don't have the time with a young family to buy & learn this art, yet.

Cheers

Mark

Chris, I love the work you did on your sister/partners cars, they must have been chuffed to bits, looks really really nice.

TWO cars in one go?!!!

Chris, u are a GOD!

Nice pics!

How different is it to detail a soft paint and hard paint?

I just use a different polishing pad and less aggressive polish on soft paint....thats all

I have a rule:...........Always start with less cut and work up to a more aggressive combination if its taking too long

Chris,

You've got my attention - explain more? PM me if you prefer. Hang on it suggests you are 4 hours drive away! MMMmmm....?? & the best part fo a tank of juice....

The detailer suggested this is a 2 days job with paint correction or 1 without.

Best part of 8 hours...I could take 2 days, but that would double the price

Its a hell of a lot of petrol!!

My Neice lives in Southampton (Naval Commander) and it takes her longer than 4 hours!!

TBH...If hes going to take 2 days, then go for it....It will amazing after that length of time working on it

Chris,

I think I'll give it a punt - I figured 2 days is going to be something special. We go on holiday soon so I will get it done upon my return. I will put some before & afters nearer the end of the month. If you lived nearer the south coast i'd be knocking on your door. Keep up the good work.

Thanks mate

Good luck

They both look good, has Gordon had his wheels refurbed as they look perfect now, the wheel arches could do with some work though, your slacking

  • Author

No...I kept the Camera from the wheels

The wheel arches were secondary...I would need far longer time than I had to do a full detail

The primary job was polishing ...NOT a full detail and that took long enough!!

I'll tell him you're willing to drive over to Scarborough to finish the job shall I? :giggle:

Cars look lovely! B)

  • Author

Thanks

No tyre dressing??, Get those arches cleaned...

  • Author

Yes.. The tyres were dressed...

Arches wernt cleaned because the wheels needed removing to do it properly...A very big job on a XK-R (285/35/20 tyres and alloys are very heavy)

Wheel arches are bad and will be tackled at a later date when the wheels get refurbished

I did not have time to do a FULL detail that day..Polishing was the primary concern

Well some of us work more than 2 days a week, work weekends and bank holidays , and yes I would have done the arches and dressed the tyres .Especially for a slap up meal
