Hmm, very shiny Leon!

Nice work...

I spent 5.5 hours on mine today:

Hoover interior

Shampoo interior (all plastics and upholstry)

Clean interior glass

Hoover interior again

Wash

Claybar

Rinse

Dry

Clean engine bay

3M Fine Compound

...

That's as far as I got today before it got far too hot.

Tomorrow the 3M Glaze goes on, then the Zymol Titanium Wax.

Then Polish exterior glass, dress tyres and shampoo the interior mats.

It better look bloody stunning after all this!!!

I clayed my Octy a few weeks back..highly recommended, had gritty paintwork now it has a well deep shine and feels like glass to touch...Well worth the four and a half hours it took!!!!!....Looks great :)

Where does one get one of these claybar jobbies? and is there any special wax/shampoo/cleaning ritual that you need to adopt when using one?

Should be available at your local friendly Halfords :D

Instead of a clay bar I used Meguiars Body Scrub , which is in a liquid format and gave the same results.

After reading the aforementioned comments, this process was alos a lot quicker to apply and remove.

Meguiars also do a clay bar as well.

I Had real bad gritty "fallout" on my Passat which i'm asuming was plaster. I could'nt shift any of it with washing so tried the clay bar. Well impressed. It's spotless now.I think you must get a coat of wax or polish on afterwards though!

Yes, you need to polish and wax after claybaring so that the paint it protected.

I've just finished mine... Photos to follow!

Looks  Leon, i've seen the other pics and its come up fab, next task on my car!!

Let me know if you, or anyone else, would like a Paint Rubber (Clay Bar).

BTW, Meguiars one will be very hard to use now the weather is more than slightly warm, as it is VERY soft!

Well I had a quiet day and the weather is warm but not too hot so I thought I'd treat mine to it's first proper clean in ages.

I've given it a normal wash and rinse and then nipped up to halfords for a clay bar. The paintwork is feeling so much smoother now that the mountain of sap , tar and other bits have been removed. I can thoroughly recommend one if you have done a fair few miles.

Now I'm having a quick break before I start polishing.

And the work is done.

Just a shame it's a bit too dark to show the car clearly in pictures , but it's gleaming away quite nicely now.

The meguiars wax polish stuff I bought is very easy to apply and requires a lot less effort than bog standard cheapo turtlewax stuff.

Hopefully it won't rain tonight and I can stick a second coat on in the morning.

Always wanted to clay bar my car, but never have got around to do it. So, does everyone thinks its worth the hours of effort?

Very much so.

It took me about two and a half hours in total to wash and dry , clay bar , wax and clean the wheels as well and though the photos don't really show it , it's gleaming.

Just the interior to vacuum in the morning and a second coat of wax I think.

Excellent... Looks like I'll be being the Meguires Clay Bar tomorrow :D

Would you LOOK at the weeds between those paving slabs! :P

(nice work Alex btw :D)

I clay-bar'd my car yesterday. It was the most satisfying car cleaning effort I have ever undertaken and would recommend it to anyone.

It actually doesn't take that long to do, but you do need to re-wax the car afterwards. I used Wonder Wax polish, then decided to do it again with proper wax because it didn't make the rain bead-off in that just-waxed kind of way.

I spent most of my driving today with the window down feeling the paintwork on the A-pillar and the door. It's so damn smooth.

And this afternoon I had a valeter come and clean the seats. They are beige fabric, and had got quite grubby. He did a fantastic job and the inside looks like new (if Skoda had offered a beige/grey two-tone trim option)!
