Dead spot when cold on my tdi

Featured Replies

I have noticed that when i drive my car and go over 2k to 2.5k and i am finding i am geting a dead spot ? i have recently used forte products turbo diesel cleaner and injector cleaner. The problem goes away when hot. I am hoping not the turbo !!

Could be the temp sender giving the wrong reading to the ecu

I'd vote for the temp sender. Not likely to be the MAF, as it goes away once warm.

Thanks i will get a new temp sender then, Thanks

Make sure you get a genuine green one, aftermarket ones have a habit of not lasting long.

Mine was also the temp sensor!

Car thought it was warm all the time so was under fuelling when cold

I have also had the temp gauge stop working intermittently, been ok for a while but could be connected as it does the ecu & gauge i am told ?

Yup that's correct one feed to the ecu and another to the gauge. Looks more and more like it's the sensor.

Another thought in the morning it can run rough for a few seconds, or it can start and run fast again for a couple of seconds.

I am doing the timming belt and tensioners and water pump on tuesday so i will change the sensor then.

Nope wouldn't risk it m8, it's one of those things where you end up paying for another one later on. If you're going to your dealer for it, be cheeky and ask for a discount. Mine is really good with me, probably gives me it to shut me up lol
