Plastic undertray

Featured Replies

I had the misfortune to hit a large piece of concrete last night which, amongst other damage, has destroyed the plastic undertray as well the side covers for the pulleys etc. There are complete kits for sale (non genuine) with all the clips, fittings for about £50. Has anyone had any experience of buying these, if so do they fit ok ? Thanks

they on ebay? seen them, been thinking bout it too. Apparently the undertray will help reduce drag

Cheers. I'm definately going to replace it for economy and protection - in fact it looks like it has actually saved the sump thankfully !

Its just a case of whether to buy a new aftermarket tray with all the fittings ; http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1438.l2649 or go to scrapyards. Don't want to blow £50 on an ebay part if they don't fit very well.

In fact as I also need a drivers window motor/wiring loom, exhaust bracket, front bumper and a new cooling fan I might just buy a complete Octavia to break for spares.

thanks for that rwbaldwin, seems might be an idea to get one then

Engine/wind noise reduction, sump/belt/pulley/inner CV boot protection and an increase in MPG - it's a nobrainer.

Only downside is, that I am sure I spend more time removing and refitting the tray, than I actually spend on changing the oil!

i know, thats why i used to keep mine off!

I bought one tonight £53! Will let you know the quality! If i forget pm me

Would be nice if that kit fits the vrs as it would keep my engine bay a little cleaner.

One here for £34.90: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item20cf145f43

Edit:

Ah doesn't have the side bits - still, might be of interest to someone.

I'd like to see a picture of the engine side of the tray to see if it has the 'cubes'.

Well I bought one of the kits for £57. Plastic not as tough as OEM but better than I expected. Came with all the clips and screws, even the ones that go into the subframe. The engine side of the tray doesn't have the "cubes".

Yeah no cubes!

I bought the one for the leon 150!

Doesnt fit at the bumper! Hmmmm

Im guessing the cubes are for sound deadening?

Primarily, but they also provide some thermal insulation.

Was hoping these would fit shame.

With regards to the fit, the one I bought, http://www.ebay.co.u...m/121081505880?

ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 it fits my Octavia perfectly. It seems to be mainly compatible with the 1.9 diesels according to the list. It included the side covers as well.

I notice on the list of models for this is it excludes the 150 bhp models. The same firm list a different undertray for the Seat and VW 150's.

that sucks, i wonder if its down to the leon bumper not being the same size?

I asked the seller

Supposedly it fits the 150 leon but not with the cupra bumper...

So basically what he's saying is it doesnt fit a leon as there isnt a 150 that comes without a cupra / cupra r bumper!

typical ebay rubbish, half the sellers on there make it up as they go along!

the 1.8T ones are just a small bit in front of the engine, the TDI ones cover the whole lot, there are some for S3/LCR that have slots to guide cooling air but they are not really needed as the front of the octavia is like a sieve anyway.
