Cheap genuine MAF anyone? Free socket set!

Featured Replies

Just got a new Bosch MAF for my car, Bought from carparts4less.co.uk(Eurocarparts) Price is 98.40 but you get £36 back for your old one. They also have a deal on where if you spend over £100 you get £15 off (CP15LESS code) and a free socket set! So i also got a Bosch oil filter which pushed the total to over £100, Works out at £83.40 but then you get your £36 back! Basically your getting a genuine Bosch MAF for 50 notes  Free socket set, free delivery. Bargain!! Thought i would share this as they are so common to fault up.

Its a bosch MAF

But its not new its reconditioned!

A few people have had issues with recon ones!

I like yourself however went for the recon bosch and so far its worked perfectly!

I think i paid about £60 so you got a good deal there!!

Yes they are recon but as far as i know the dealers also sell recon units? They take your old one back anyways? As far as i know they only recycle the housing and MAF element is new

I just phoned VW and they want £181.69 for a MAF, and if you have a genuine one on your car that you can give them back it goes down to £121.69. but I then asked if it was a brand new part and he said its a stripped down unit built back up.. so I am guessing it depends who does the reconditioned ones as to whether they are any any good or not... But £60 compared to £120 is rather tempting, just wonder what rules Carparts4less has about the returns sent back to them,

Bosch recon on mine and no issues since fitting it. TBH looking at it I doubt its actually a recon, I'd say it's overstock being sold off

Thought they were recon from dealer.... Yes at £50 it works out miles cheaper! As far as i know you have to send your old unit back within 30 days

Carpartsfor less is part of euro car parts i think, so should nt be a problem for returns.

The last genuine MAF I bought from TPS last year was £70 exchange. I wouldn't trust a recon again as I made that mistake a few years ago with one from GSF.

but even VW said there MAFS are recon, I understand what your saying but with my closest TPS over 25 miles away, and not having access to another car it might be a problem dropping it in for an exchange..

A 1.8t one?

GSF don't sell genuine MAF's or certainly did not when i checked so no wonder it is carp if it is a recon none oem.

Their is no problem buying genuine recon or refurbed VAG parts they are warranted with same conditions as new normally if purchased from TPS or the likes.

I don't use GSF any more as they sell s***e parts most of the time. Euro car parts are better IMO .

Only the plastic parts are reused on a recon MAF. The sensor/electronics are new and are the same as the original VAG parts, if bought from TPS or a VAG dealer.

GSF and other recon MAFs reuse the plastic parts but use new, cheaper, non-OE sensor/electronics.

That's a bit of a statement. Have you tested them?

Mine didn't come from vag but did come in a sealed bosch recon box

The one i got had a sticker on saying it was a recon done at bosch factory in germany so basically just as good as new imo (from eurocarparts)

In your case it will be exactly the same as new because the sensor/electronics are new.

My experience with aftermarket VAG engine sensors isn't good so I always use TPS. I'm happy buying mechanical parts from ECP especially with the briskoda discount, but for me aftermarket/recon engine sensors is roulette.

I just called my local TPS and they wanted £110 for a refurbished unit, so I called Carparts4less, who checked the Bisch MAF for me, and its a brand new one they will be supplying, so for £79 I got brand new front brake pads (Bosch again) and the MAF and a free socket set.. and don't have to drive 25 miles to the TPS..

Reconned at bosch germany so not a chinese outfit doing it, all they use is the plastic body of the sensor, internals are new genuine bosch so really no different to a brand new bosch at treble the price

That's it, cars already cost enough to keep running, but if i can save a few quid and keep the car running I will. Good idea with the sockets, I told my misses she can have them, as I'm sick of her using my tools, and I have to go round looking for the missing ones..
