Engine judder whilst cold and idle

Featured Replies

Sorry if this been covered already many times. But i am experiencing slight engine judder whilst cold and in idle. Its very intermittent, more tend to happen in the morning rather in afternoon. Didnt notice any loss of power, revs stay still at 900, no warning lights. Rang few dealers up, and they want to keep the car overnight and try to replicate the judder. They have checked there are no outstanding recalls. The car is 56 plate 2L diesel, with 55k on the clock.

Has anyone experienced similar problem, and is it part of the package which i have to live with?

Thanks

Ive just bought a 2010 octavia Vrs with same problem, only just noticed it today......did you manage to find out what the problem was or solve it?

Having a chat with MD of the garage where i bought it from about covering the diagnostics fee tomorrow. See whats the outcome i dont want to waste my time just to take the car to them to have a look at as its 100 miles one way. Basicaly they would want to keep my car overnight meaning me doing 400 miles, loosing holiday day. I was told by one of the dealerships that it might be jast part of the package.

Is it a significant judder or a very slight shimmy like a gust of wind?

If the latter they all do it.

Hi.

My car Judders on warm up - Then when hot if I idle I get the odd shake like you would expect from a TDI engine. Must admit when on warm up it really does make the car judder!

From my experience it is pretty normal, some do it more than others and some people notice it more than others. I'm OCD so I notice it a lot. I've never been able to find a fix to fully resolve it. You could try raising or lowering the idle speed to smooth it.

Mine also judders worse when the ambient outside temp is below 8 degrees too. Much better when it's warmer outside. RAMDOM car :D

I worry about my engine mounts as it can be really felt in the car when warming up :/ Doesn't help that my mates car has started doing something similar except he has a real problem and has 223K on the clock

There is slight vibration i can feel through my seats. When opened the bonet the engine was shaking more than usual. So i am unsure whether should bother about it at all.

And i have noticed that the juder tends to happen after chiller night. It hasnt happened at the end of the day after work.

I am ocd aswell picking up every sound and hum its just doing my head in.

Sounds like DMF problems to me.. does it happen when it's been raining also?

This morning drove, when its been raining it was fine. So god knows we shall see. I think its not much point taking to the dealers to have a look if its not showing any warning lights, so they wont be able to pick up anything

Mine only does it when warming up and at temp. Also noticed when warm if I drive like a better then stop no shaking but if I drive steady and stop it shakes. Any suggestions?

Just to add to that it does not do it at all when cold... Very smooth not shakes!
