Right here it is... we have three cars. A Nissan qashqai +2 2.0 dCi, a Fabia vRS TDi and an '84 Porsche 924.

SWBO has decided that after driving the QQ for a week that it's too slow (Fabia has spoiled her).

So the requirement is - big boot, oem Sat nav, grunt, good economy.

Budget is not limitless but finance is available - plus the QQ is 100% paid for.

so ideally up to 25K - but I might push towards 30. Having said that though cheaper the better.

Don't really wanna buy new - ex demo would be the best option - so waiting for the new Octy vRS is out.

Shortlist looks like this...

Octy vRS diesel estate - prob around 18k but will need to add sat nav as a retro fit (pros? cons?)

Superb 170ps Elegance estate - how does it compare to the Octy? Not really sporty. Around 25k.

and

BMW 520d M-sport touring - local Beemer dealer has two low mileage cars at £29k.

Any comments? Been mulling this over for days....

If there is a requirement for kids then look as the zafia gsi's but if not it would be the Beemer for me :-)

yep - 2 kids. But SWBO has dictated no Vauxhall, no ford, nothing french or with a french engine :(

BMW is a nice motor but have you tried a 3.0tdi Audi equivalent as the 2.0d BMW is slower than the fabia even the 175bhp newer engine struggles compared to say the 2.5 or the 3.0 with the size of car :) or go down a level and get a 320d touring :) they have a bit more poke :D

330d???

Obviously

sorry to be dumb but SWBO? I've looked it up on urban dictionary Sh** will buff out, I see it a lot on the forum but don't get the sense?

Aha got it but you are missing the M Swmbo Swbo is something completely different!

Topcat, the octy vrs would leave you £11k to spend on a sat nav as compared with the BMW. Buy the octy, a nice sat nav and then reflect on the cash saved while you work out what to do with it.

Just got it but you are missing the M Swmbo, Swbo mean something else SWBO **** will buff out! god knows how you use it maybe, "I crashed my yeti ah well swbo!"?

SWMBO is originally from Rumpole of the Bailey if my memory serves.

If you can find a blackline that has the amundsun + sat nav, alternativly some normal crs might have a FF columbus. Loads of grunt either way :-)

Obviously the beemer will be even more so but will cost loads more.

I'm not missing the M, I was just answering your query  I think someone mis-typed it in the thread, but I've never heard of SWBO.

Vw Tiguan r-line 170 diesel

25k-30k for a car? You are bonkers. (Sorry)

There are literally tens of thousands of decent motors out there with low miles, great specs and good warranties for under 15k.

Buy one of those and have three really decent foreign holidays plus a good meal at a decent restaurant every week for two years.

Sorry domhnall it was Topcat my error.

If I wanted to chuck that kinda money on a car I'd be going nowhere near a Skoda if I'm honest. A mate has a 3,0TDI A4 S-Line Quattro. Sure they'd fall into your budget and its quite frankly a staggeringly good car.

Scout.

But if badges matter you can get the new BMW 320 xDrive with 4x4 so you don't need to pick on of the 'orrible X models.
