Do motorbikes.....

Featured Replies

.....have rear fog lights?

Nope.

Not a legal requirement.

I know Honda can fit them to special builds, like police spec, and there are some aftermarket jobs but as far as I know, not available in the general m/c accessory market, but from specialist hazard light suppliers.

Ho they dont have any fog lights on the majority of bikes....So of the tourers do have extra lights but for the msot part bikes mierely have the standard light set up..

Cheers

If you feel the need you can lightly touch the rear brake to leave the rear brake light on. But you have to be careful not to drag the brakes and over heat things.

Honda do several bikes where you can buy official fog lights. The Transalp 700 and the Deauville 700 have or used to have the them as official accessories, but generally the answer is no.

I have seen a few bikes where owners have fitted fog lights themselves

You can, but there is a problem with that.

When you need to brake, if there is anything behind you, they get no warning.

Mind you, if it was me, I would not have a rear fog light on with anything close behind as they know you are there.

CFB- common sense says rear fogs are there to extend the warning distance and help keep your rear end safe. If you get something close enough, rear fogs should go off. but it's like how a lot of drivers read /get taught HC. Islands, all I see is folks a distance away failing to respect traffic ON the island, irrespective of who is on left/right. They read HC ,and see "give way to traffic on right" , but totally miss the bit about traffic already on the island. So be it with rear fogs. it's "there's a bit of fog about, NEED rear fogs" .
