cruise control

Featured Replies

Would make less sense on a manual, do manual Skodas get fitted with CC? My last car (manual Jag) had it and I used it much less then.

Yes, I have it on my manual. It makes perfect sense to me. If you're in cruise, you don't tend to need to change gear anyway.

Have to say it works better in a DSG car than a manual, system remains active even during upshifts and downshifts whether they be auto or manual shifts; dont have to consider any gear changing. Resume fiction works better too. Dipping the clutch in a manual car deactivates the system.

True, but I don't have a DSG and yet it still works fine and suits my needs just fine :)

Can someone confirm if octavia 2009 1.9tdi with maxidot and mfsw would have "wire loom" for cruise control factory installed so the only thing I need is that new stalk, or I would have to run a line back to ecu? Thanks for answer!

Put it this way it worked on my 2005/55 2.0 tdi Octy Sport with no Maxidot or mfsw, so I don't see why it wouldn't. It should just be a case of fitting, coding and testing!

It shouldn't be a wire loom.. it connects into the steering wheel controller.

get a vcds/code read of the controller. if its a midline/highline then you can (chances are if you don't have either a mfsw or a maxidot then  you need a new controller.

I also happen to have a mid line controller going for sale in the forums from when i retrofitted my mfsw.

check your slipring as between myself and kbphoto we have both types of slipring for sale atm :)

Thank a lot guys. It's this "extra wire" I was worried about. I hope I wont need to replace controller, but sure will give it a check first. Cheers!

If you have maxidot you should have a high line controller so cruise will work.

good point. i read the wrong post! maxidot will be a highline so its easily doable. will have to take the steering wheel off so if you can pick up a cheap msfw you might as well add that on too ;) (that will need a new airbag loom though)

I already have both maxidot and mfsw, so I can now safely assume I will not need new controler.  I've been lookin for a replacement stalk, I know these are interchangeable parts, and can fit different vehicles across vag concern, but still, the info I found is confusing because for the same (to me looking the same) part some sellers say it will not fit, and some say it will. I would appreciate if someone with experience will have time to take a look at these links and tell me if I'm looking at the same thing or not.

Than I came across this one that looks the same as others, it's on sale for a realyyyyy good price, and if it's the same thing I will order, I would rather wait extra week for delivery and save a few coins.

The third one is the same price as a new one from a dealer/TPS. The first two look like non OEM as does the last one.

Early mk II vRS's came out on the 55 plate.

Having had cruise control on all three vRS's (as standard on the last two) I really miss it on my R. I do a fair bit of motorway driving and I find it really useful. I do 300-400 miles a week in hire cars and they all have it and I always use it.

Cant beleive a Golf R hasnt got CC fitted as standard! VW must be tight with the factory fitted extras

The last one is non-OEM but agreed, it is a good price.

The used one is about the right price as well.

Can see no reason why it won't fit and work unless you need the extra wire.

Got cruise on my VRS as standard - had the car for year and a half now, never used the cruise once - really don't see any point in it............. I'm more than capable of driving within speed limits in average speed sections on motorway/dual carriageways..... it's not exactly difficult is it!

Unless your an old biddy/git who has limited driving skills, they are a pointless waste of electronics as far as I am concerned.......... but I accept that some drivers have varying skill levels and aren't capable of driving on a road without some assistance...  :giggle:

Going to duck behind the sofa now..................

Wow......it's not often you see such a blatant attempt at trolling.

Next thing you'll be telling us is that those new fangled engines are a pointless waste, and it was much better when we all drove around in a horse and cart.

Go for it. do it. I have a 2012 1.6 TDI combi with it and for long trips or motorways it is fantastic - no pain in legs after a couple of hours driving. Also very good for avg speed cameras.

I use CC an aweful lot - set it for the speed limit I am in - then concentrate on the traffic. Must have saved me a few points on my license. Great on longer journeys - no more getting a frozen right leg.  Now feel positively uncomfortable in a car without CC.

This is the cruise control stalk that just came in from China. I doubt it is, and probably it is not, an original vw part, but it looks and feels like a real thing. It’s perfect apart from that tiny little spot on the back of the lever where it seems like plastic did not properly melt, or mold, whatever. It’s hardly visible, and only if you stick your head behind a wheel and look for it. And you can’t beat the price, for $28 with free shipping it’s almost free. It took mail system three weeks to deliver the switch, and I’ve got all the tools in the meantime, including vcds, so now looking forward for some spare time to put it in. Though there is plenty of instructions around, In case anyone needs the guide here is the official Skoda cruise control retrofit guide.
