Suspiciously cheap vrs on autotrader

Featured Replies

Just been looking through the octavias on auto trader and seen a silver 05 with 44k on backed up by vosa with long t&t for £1799 on a private sale. Seems very cheap to me is this not worth £3-4k? Not very clued up on octavia prices just seems too cheap

Link? Could be a CatC/D?

Don't know how to link sorry. Doesn't say it's a cat c/d. Looks quite tidy to be fair

That's what puts me off! If it wasn't 80 miles away might be worth a look but seems too good to be true

The guy is on briskoda, I asked him why so cheap, he just replied with check the link. The famous saying - if it's too good to be true.

Someone do a history check on it lol

If I was in the market for one I would but I'm happy with mine that's done 100k more!

Could be true that he's brought a new car and is happy to let it go cheap for a quick sale without realising that being so cheap scares people off lol

Fair enough he may want a quick sale but even at £2500 it probably wouldn't hang about. If he's on here surely he must know roughly what it's worth and I'm sorry but I bet he would of got more than £1800 part ex on his car so why not trade in? Think it is a case of if it seems too good to be true.....

I know why its cheap , its silver :rock:

Got mine a fair bit cheaper than that although it's silver too.

For an 05 with 44k? You did well.

Na a bit older with a bit more miles but when I say a fair bit I mean a lot

It's a Cat D stolen recovered

Still good value if it is a keeper and just stolen with keys and no damage.

Wouldn't faze me as long as it has matching keys and is in really good nick

For the money I don't think you can argue really. But don't expect perfect

i would buy it. So what if its stolen recovered.

Drive it till its dies, Sell the parts recoup loads more moeny :)

OH! or Track toy!

nice to see they are advertising it as a cat d!

wouldnt put me off in the slightest as long as its in good condition, but they should tell people it is none the less.

The Cat D will be the Stolen with keys.

The Insurance would have paid out and then the car was recovered, They then write the car off, It goes to auction. someone puts it back on the road.

Bingo bango cheep car.

you can get some right bargains at the auctions for stolen with keys catD

as said nothing wrong with cat c or d imo, repaired a few myself, but cant see any info to the fact it is a write off in the ad.

Dont have to. They advise you tell the new owner, If its asked then they have to say, but there is no law to say you have to advertise it as a Cat write off.

it would be nice if they where honist.

Would not buy. The car being CatD is OK, but since the guy doesn't say anything about it, papers might not be 100% okay. If you don't have the proof of the writeoff, it might be a huge pain to insure, let alone completely uninsurable.

Agree with Sheldon if he had put it in the ad it wouldn't bother me but what else is he not telling you? At that price saying it was a cat d he would still have a lot of interest, no need to hide it in my opinion
