Felicia fun backward indicators !?

Featured Replies

I found the easiest way to re-connect the speedo is to unscrew the cable (carefully) from the gear-box, then you have enough slack to push it all the way back onto the speedo. Put the dash back in place and re-screw the cable to the gear-box. Sounds a faff, but only takes seconds at the gearbox end. :)

I'm glad the wiggle test got you closer to final solution. If it's not too much trouble, please tell us exactly what wire(s) were shorted on what connector. If you are not sure, take a photo and we'll identify it on wiring. It is important for everybody to learn from your story. Hopefully this topic will inspire other members to have the courtesy of informing Skoda Classic community how they finally solved their issue instead of disappearing into the sunset...

I don't know what Wire it is, there's a connector where I assume someone has spotlights connected. I t blew a fuse last time so I've avoided playing with it as its okay when left and In prioritising the speedo.

Due to my little hands, I can pop it back in the back by putting my hands up the steering column and around the back.

For some reason I can't pull the dash out far enough to do this any other way. (Still waiting for the Manual to arrive)

The speedo cable is usually the limiting factor in getting the instruments out. IIRC there are three electrical connectors too.

The instruments are held to the main section of the dash with two fold-over catches at the top. Undo those and you can separate it from the main section. Haynes will tell you that you need to remove the steering wheel. This does make it easier, but wiggling the dash will get it out through the gap.

Looking at Haynes, it does say to remove the cable at the transmission (gear-box) end first.......

Got it off, pulled the connectors off the back and took the speedo cable from the gearbox so I could get it on nicely my end and success!

(So far) hoping nothing stops it again.

I have lights indicators and a speedo :)

Thanks guys!

as for the troublesome wire with the indicators, I'm going to leave it be until it causes another issue. So far it's fine. I tried to upload a pic before the cover went back on the steering column but apparently the files too big, will try again once I'm in a pc incase anyone can spot an obvious problem.

@littlehands

You can't have more than 1MB (in total) as attachment. That's a major drawback.

But you can host your photos on many image hosting sites then insert in your message the link(s) to them.
