Removed my front numberplate surround

Featured Replies

Whats the legal issues with displaying your plate inside the front windscreen? :)

I dont think you can, th plate has to be vertical and viewable with no obstructions eg. wiper blades, tax disc etc. I dont think it can be behind anything either as this may effect its reflectiveness.

its a favorite door seal got to have geniune skoda parts on it hehe and all it took was my lunch hour and an exhaust cutter :)

also when you unclip the bottom grill bit you can pull the black number plate holder off but behind it is plastic which needs cutting out

Speaking of Tax Disc Holders - it is legal to shift that from it's usual location according to the email from the DVLA I received - Mine will be shifted to the passenger-side TOP rather than bottom of the windscreen.

Looked at removing the front number plate surround today, it seems that the lower part of the grille (below the number plate) is 3.5", and from memory the number plate surround in height is 6". After having a quick look I believe you could remove the number plate surround and buy a few lower grille's from Skoda and attempt to glue it in so it fits right, might take a while but atleast it'd look standard.

However when I measured the width of the number plate itself it was 10" (again from memory), this will not fit on the left/right side of the bumper therefore the only way around it I can see is to get a new smaller number plate.

What about using a motorbike square numberplate as per the Scooby crowd. Or, are stick on numberplates still legal, they used to be quite fashionable in E-type Jags, and some Minis in the '60s.

Where you gonna put the plate? and how's it gonna stay there? :D

He won't need a front plate - it'll be that fast people will only see the back!!

More seriously though, what about something like the Alfa's have, could you mod one of those plate holders for the front of yours, or as said a square one like the EVO boys use?
