Nope I can't stand it either. It offends my sense of Symmetry.

I don't have a problem with the Dualshock, though I do find the 360 controller feels a bit sturdier and has more sensible thumbsticks and triggers.

Quite why they felt the need to have the two sticks offset is beyond me though - it's like the N64 controller which was just wierd for the sake of it.

If they are so like PC's then they will just develop on PC, it will scale like a PC does and the PS3 will automatically have better graphics or a higher frame rate.

In terms of raw graphics power, yep. 18 compute units vs 12.

Fairly obviously that's only one aspect of system performance but it is a bit of an important one in a games console.

There's also 2.5x as much memory bandwidth on the PS4 which might have a bit of an effect.

There is phenomenon called visual perception threshold and the way in which human brain compensates and works with visual imputs.

The short of it is small improvements are not perceptible and then we get used to things and stop noticing shortcomings after a while - those married will testify

Friend of mine played Battlefield3 on Wii, he thought graphics awas very good, untill he played on PC (old one). Difference was astonishing as we all know. He went back to his Wii and after a while had no problems with the graphics whatsoever, gameplay experience was more important and all encompasing than definition of a particular blade of grass!

However, I noticed the more detail and the better graphics and sound the more immersive the experience becomes and the more exciting the game play becomes resulting in much higher satisfaction levels.

Me being a lazy git as well I could not live with all the buggeration factor XBOX ONE is claimned to burden the user with as mentioned here before.

Not to mention when you are playing running on the "heavy fuel"

So, we now have a launch date for both consoles - 22nd and 29th for XBone and PS4
We have launch prices and hardware specs, plus a nice list of launch games.

 

Has anyone changed their mind about what to buy since the reveals?

 

I've had my PS4 pre-ordered since day 1 - just on the hunt for a few decent deals on games now.

I'm waiting on Amazon to get there arses in gear and get some bundles on there site.

 

And if I get a PS4, 2 dualshock 4, camera and a game for £430 Im gonna buy 2!!!

I'm still getting neither on release.

 

Even after the reveals neither impress me enough to upgrade either my 360 or PS3...

 

Will wait for a little while me thinks...

Not that fussed yet. they both will be near enough the same. will wait and see of any interesting games appear or may just upgrade my PC. :lol:

GT6 is released on the PS3 a week after the PS4 launch, so I can't see me needing a PS4 until sometime next year..

The question is.. Will the fact that with both new consoles having ATi GFX have any effect on the PC gaming market.. As in will we be seeing games better optimised for ATi equipped rigs than Nvidia?

I'm more concerned about whether I'll have completed Dead Space 3 before GTA V arrives next week, and then whether I'll have completed GTA V before the PS4 arrives.

I always thought the next instalment of gran turismo would be on the new flagship model, how wrong was I, can't wait for it to come out, loved the last one.

Roll on next week now as iv preordered GTA, it looks epic.

I'm still unsure on the PS4 may wait for the hype over Xmas to die down abit and may get one early next year. I'm wanting to see more games released before I take the plunge with it.

If you haven't ordered one now, I doubt you'll get one for Christmas anyway.

 

There's more than enough games in the launch window to keep me busy until the next set are released in 2014.

Ps4 has encountered frame rate problems trying to run ghost @ 60fps @1080p. Microsoft xbox chickened out early and decided to develop it at 720p instead im guessing sony are now regretting trying to outgun xbox. Its no good having more pixel count if you have jumpy animation. There is speculation they will sort it pre release with firmware update I hope they do. Ill be getting both consoles so not a fanboy.

The problem with COD Ghosts is they released on all platforms using an outdated game engine. They should have concentrated on next gen and pc then ported across to current gen consoles. COD Ghosts was running 1080p on Xbox one but Framerate suffered so it got downgraded to 720p. PS4 is now having framerate issues too so hopefully it can be sorted by patching the game. I think everyone forgets that these are launch games being developed on platforms that had not been finalised until recently even the Consoles OS are still being worked on and that will continue till well after launch, as shown by the PS4 day one patch to enable blu ray playback and a lot of other features

Im pretty sure the COD Ghosts PS4 frame rate rumour has been rebuked.

Its only video games though, who really cares?

It's just the same as with cars where some people manage to get very offended that someone on the internet they have never met has chosen something different.
