Skoda 6 new cars released this year?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Not sure what is the best forum for this...

I saw a link on the skoda site with the 6 new cars that they are planning to release this year, the last 3 where covered up, so no idea what they will be. Does anyone have an idea? or links to the official skoda info about this?

There where rumers a few years ago about a faster VRS with maybe a 1.6 engine? (Im sure I saw that here so probably a wish list rather than fact...

My car will be replaced in January, so I am begining to wonder what to go for next. (I have no problems with getting another VRS.) But is there any equivelant planned?

Cheers

Everything being leaked by Skoda seems to be saying 2015 for a Fabia mk3, so even if late 2014, its a while off.

Even if a vRS version came out quick, i can hardly see it being quicker than you get now.

Engines appear to be getting smaller capacity or Deactivating Cylinders, not bigger,

and with lower emissions.

But a lot of the new VAG models are all about reducing weight to improve performance and reduce emmissions.

The Octy alone is something like 100kg lighter than it was before, despite being noticably bigger!

The Fabia mk3 should be lighter than the current offering, so it will be quicker.

The Fabia VRS is actually quite heavy, something like 100+kg over the weight of the standard petrol car, which is still based on the 14(ish) year old mk1 Fabia layout.

So there is plenty of space for improvement.

I wouldn't expect to see it until late 2014 at the earliest though.

As i said before in the various threads, Skoda/VAG Sandbagged the Fabia vRS Hatch to give it the same Road Tax Rate as the Estate,

& that puts it in the group above the Polo & A1.

Polo GTI 5 Door given kerb weight 1269 kg, on a PQ 25 platform. no spare wheel.

A1 185 ps Special Edition 1215kg on a PQ 25 platform. no spare wheel.

vRS Hatch 1243kg on a PQ24 Platform with spare wheel and extra weight added

vRS Estate 1238kg on a PQ 24 Platform with spare wheel.

25 KG of Pig Iron and a spare wheel fitted before giving it a Kerb/unladen Weight.

then make it on paper a few seconds slower & a MPH or 2 slower.

Funnily that 25 KG of pig iron must be expensive in this day and age, and does not rust, unlike the Drum Brake material that Skoda/Vag turns out.

(i would actually like to know the cost to VAG of adding that weights,

its odd to penny pinch on important components of cars and splash out on expensive weights screwed onto the rear crash bar on another model.)

I keep reading about these heavy vRS, but not when the actual weight is compared next to similar performance 5 door hatches.

Ie the New Clio Turbo and the likes.

(The EVO magazine this month and the corner weights of the Hot Hatches on test is interesting when compared to a vRS Hatch.)

A John Cooper Works has a claimed Kerb Weight of 1205kg & a claimed 0-62 of 7.8 from 208bhp

*Obviously handles great & performs, but not light & not cheap @ £22,460 just for starters.*

A Nissan Juke Nismo really is a Porker, but has its 197bhp and a claimed slower 0-62 & top Speed than a vRS..

All of them probably have better performance than the Manufacturers figures, but always need actually weighed to know how they are as cars on the road.

The Shortened version of the MBQ platform will hopefully be a lighter car,

but will they really make it or allow it on paper to be a car that is faster than the More Expensive vehicles in the VAG range.

Faster than a A3 1.8 TFSI on a MBQ platform?

All new Fabia has got to be due next year so they may well be announcing that later this year, the new Golf/Octavia MQB platform was announced the year before launch. Skoda have already started slimming down the current model line up and running special editions which is usual towards the end of production.

Skoda have hinted on both a SUV bigger than the Yeti and one smaller than the Yeti.

They've also hinted at an MPV people carrier.

But more likely to be the Octavia vRS and facelifted Yeti.

Take your pick really.

Hmm, late 2014 my Fabia will be 3 years old, so maybe time for a new model :)

 Thanks guys,

looks like I will miss out then, my contract runs out in Jan, so the new car may be a VRS estate. I may pop into the dealer and see what options are open to me.

Good discussion above. very interesting about the sandbagging.

Whenever the new one arrives, I just hope (although I probably wont be) the vRS is in the line up at launch. Mine is 3 years old next Feb and do want to change (if financially viable) but if Skoda actually announce the line up ill wait and consider the vRS.

However got a slight interest in the new Octy vRS once its released....

How have skoda started slimming down line up?

Yes they are reducing the engine availability with some models and completely withdrawing the SE+ trim level. Engine wise for example the Monte C is no longer available with the HTP or TDI 75 motor and likewise the Elegance has also lost these same engines plus the TSI 86.

I would rather more engine/trim choice on a smaller range

For example we don't need a smaller yeti or a bigger one.we already have a yeti

Also after spending a whole day with a Rapid yesterday I really cant see the point

Same size as Octavia in showroom only with a boot and different interior.felt like a poor mans Octavia

Just hope Skoda don't end up jack of all trades and master of none

I don't think SE+ was ever a permanent trim level ,as for the others they could be slimming down or are they getting rid of poor selling trim and engine combinations

Is that not just the same thing?

Anything updates if the Monte Carlo Estate is going to be available in the UK?

Skoda do this in the last year of production, they slim down the options available and bring in special editions with more kit. Nothing new. 16 Fabia models have been dropped from the order system and are only available as stock items.

The Fabia sits on a platform dating back to 1999 and the Mk2 is in it's 7th year of production 3.5 years on from a facelift. It's one of the oldest models in the VAG line up.

A new model has got to be announced soon.

The Fabia MK3 will be at the Geneva Motorshow in March next year. It may actually go into production before that like the Octavia did.

I believe the final 2 models.of the six are FL Superb and FL Yeti.

The 4 released being Rapid, Octavia 3 hatch, Octavia 3 estate and Octavia vRS.

Damn Tapatalk

I have just bought a new Fabia TDI Elegance Estate with Zero Percent VAT and Zero Interest over 2 years (50% of price). Retail price without promotion takes it into bottom Ford Focus range.

On the internet there are pictures of the new Fabia 3 with smaller turbo engines and lowered body all in the quest for lower emissions.

March 13 Fabia catalogue starts to limit engine and trim choices as stated in e-mail above.

No doubt Fabia Mk3 will be full price with slow sales until Skoda UK have similar offers.
