What story do these tell?

Featured Replies

These were the old (Cheap and nasty!) glow plugs from my truck. Swapped them today, chore of a job, made quicker, but just as fiddly with a ratchet spanner!

Are the timing end one and the next but one working correctly? (hence the soot) The one in between these not working and the far end one half working (half clean/half sooty) Or am I the wrong way round? (Clean = working properly)

Either way these were not much better than the old ones. Load of Krap! Wish I'd bought a good brand in the first place!

Hats off to you, I gave up struggling with mine and took it to a garage in the end. What make were those? I bought a set of Denso and wonder how long they'll last, they were very cheap.

I put NGK ones in (a reccomendation from a forum user) I can't remember the brand of the ones which came out, they were less than a tenner for four. How much did the garage charge to put them in?

"(Nippon) Densu" are a known brand, and NGK's main rival back in Japan.

Garage charged just under £60 and the plugs were a bit over £7 each from CarParts4Less.co.uk. At the time it was barely starting, it would spin and spin. It's better now.

It had to go back the following week as they'd removed one of the return hoses on the injectors for access and replaced it with the wrong type of hose. After a week it was pouring diesel down the side of the engine. Of course they didn't charge for that. I think they'd given the job to the trainee because it's so awkward.

Well , the sooty ones are the ones not working and the dry grey/brown ones are, try them on a battery -tv to the threaded body and +tv to the small threaded end, the grey ones should glow red on the tip after a couple of seconds.

It is not a nice job on these but much easier than on a golf where you have to remove the injection pump to get the 1st one out.
