Auto Trader, how much?!?!

Featured Replies

As some know im selling my Octavia, had a for a few weeks on forums and some interest but time wasters so going to put it up on Auti trader which was the plan.

Clearly advertises on the home page from £9.99 so you can imagine the shock i got when it gave me one fo 4 options, the cheapest £36!! What the actual flub? So from £9.99 obviously states you are most likely going to spend more then £9.99 but bloody hell i was not expecting that!

At this moment ive saved the advert and try and sell it else where but it needs must i will pay the money but i wont be entirely happy about it

Are you using this site to try and sell?

Cost me £60+ quid to sell my MX5 on there.

Got to speculate to accumulate.

She is mate, she's paid up for freedom.

Yeah its on here and a few others, also now being reduced

Yeah i know ill get a much bigger market on such a site but that £36 was only for 2 weeks which i think is shocking.

Doing abit more price research and it turns out mine without being reduced is below the average for a car that is not below average

Wow, I'm putting my Polo up soon and was expecting AT to be about £20.

That's a lot of money :(

Its cheaper than selling it on ebay,

I put a car on a few months ago and paid the 36quid for 2 week etc and sold the fecking thing in 2 days, but its sods law if i hadn't i would still have it

If your car is under 1k then its £10, obviously goes on how much your car is

This is what im hoping, eBay is last resort and even then i might try something else. Im not desperate for it go right this second but i want an MX5 :(

Dont forget to try gumtree, its free and allows 9 photos. Sold my car on there a few years back with no issues at all

I had mine on eBay as a classified ad. It's cheaper than auto trader for just the online advertisement.

Pistonheads is free

No its not! Its £9.99 for 30 days.

My experience of Autotrader, is don't waste your time or money trying to sell on there.

Last time I tried to sell on there, all I got was 14 days of scammers, not one single genuine party.

eBay classified adds. Just sold my bike on there for £16

Worth more than that sadly. :( Really annoys me the people who list cars as under £1k with a 'real price' in the advert. I refuse to buy those on principle. If you're too tight to pay to sell it correctly, what else have you skimped out on?

eBay was on the best when tried to sell cars in the past.

Me too!

Loads of scammers on autotrader

Yep, I advertised my car on auto trader and used the telesafe system and I just got two weeks of texts with no pleasantries at all complete waste of time. I've sold 4 cars through eBay with no worries whatsoever. I would always go for eBay!

I had a decent experience on Auto trader with the MX.

4 Genuine enquiries. Sold car to the first to see it.

Paid me £8500 in cash,no issues at all.

Had a courtesy call from them today to ask if i needed help to complete my advert, i replied no i can complete the advert myself but the shock of £36 for 2 weeks stopped me

Another vote for eBay Motors here.

I've sold two cars on eBay with no hassle.

The key is to take lots and lots of pictures and don't skimp on the detail in the advert.

Silver, have you seen my advert? I dont think i could go into more detail if i tried!

Seen lots of tasty MX-5's :) but then ill be Skoda-less :(

Only an issue if you wish to take part in track day style events arranged via Briskoda.

Plenty of room over here in the Black sheep pen.

I don't think it's expensive personally, but I guess people's perception will be skewed by failing to sell on there.

Fact is they are the main place people look for cars so it's reasonable that they charge you a significant sum to advertise on there.

I guess it's also important to remember that it's not their fault if you advertise with them but your car doesn't sell!

Yep, looking good, you just need it up on eBay now

My vRS is all but identical to yours (more factory fit options) but on a 57 plate with 75,000 miles, also full Skoda history.

I just got £5,400 for it in part exchange so £6K for yours should be fair.
