Hi! Need help for replacing Skoda Laura's Flywheel..

Featured Replies

Hi there.. I own a Skoda Laura 1.9 TDI ( Manual Transmission ) Ambiente L&K. Year 2007.. My car has clocked 55k km as of now. I have heard the fact that the Flywheel and clutch assembly of this car has to be replaced after 60k km. It has the Dual mass Flywheel. It has started developing a cracking sound ( kat-kat-kat) underneath the engine and near to the tyres when I drive for some time, maybe when it gets hot due to the heat generated during driving. Till now I have been getting my car serviced at regular intervals. But for this cracking sound I have consulted a lot. The Skoda dealer says the Flywheel and clutch assembly needs to be changed and they will be charging 45000 INR for this job. In the outer market some are giving these parts for 15000 INR and some for 20000 INR. I inquired from one of the supplier who quoted the price for whole assembly at 22600 INR and this part is make of FEBI GERMANY. I regularly follow the TOP GEAR series and has seen in one of the series that this cracking ( kat- kat- kat) sound comes when the plain bearing of the flywheel wear out.. now I want to know that if it's just the bearing thing then do i need to change the whole Dual Mass Flywheel for that or just do the bearing change.. And which company's Dual Mass Flywheel does Skoda Laura fits with... Is it FEBI's ( Germany) or some other company's part which has to be fitted in..?? And do tell about the clutch assembly and pressure plates.

Thank You !
