Bolts for steel wheels

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I found at a bargain price a set of 15" steel wheels (including winter tyres).

My car is currently wearing 16" alloys. All mentioned parts are OEM VAG group.

Can you tell me if the bolts already on will also fit the steel wheels?

Thanks.

Yes.

Also I believe the bolts are (Screw-M14) (Thread 1.5) x (length 26.7) with a radius curve on the head. Found on the McGard.de website.

I think you can use ally bolts on steel wheels but not the other way round as the taper is different.

as far as I know the bolts are the same. If you have a spare it will be a steel wheel won't it?

No, my spare wheel is an alloy like the other four.

Same happens on my wife's Yaris: 5 alloys (including spare). I bought 4 steel for the winter tyres and they fitted OK. So I supposed to do the same on the Octy.

Yes. My car has a factory steel spare.

My current and old octavias both had steel spares. So does swmbo's Leon.

My wife's is a 2010 Yaris 1.0 with OEM alloys and I found 2nd hand steels and they mount with the same bolts.
