2 little problems

Featured Replies

hi totally new to the site and only just recently aquired a skoda octavia 2008 model on a mk1 and i have minor problems i am trying to sort out. firstly my rear washer aint working and when i have popped my bonnet the pipe is disconnected and just runs out of the little section of pipe when you turn on the washer. i cant find the pipe its supposed to run into.

secondly i was wondering if there is any wires pre fitted for the rear 2 speakers (either side of the parcel shelf) as i dont have any fitted i am going to be buying some but need to know if i need to get wires to run through.

many thanks and look forward to your responses.

You mean you can't find the front end of the front to rear pipe that should be connected to the washer bottle? If so, I think we may struggle for a routing through the engine bay for you to pick it up.

There's probably a leak in the well behind the LEFT hand rear wheel arch (behind the luggage bay side trim, under the CD stacker if fitted) which a previous owner couldn't find and is why they disconnected the pipe up front.

I think there's rear speaker wiring as standard; why not take off a grille and look?

+1 on the water piping,

it might also have popped a joint where its connected to the rear washer unit.

but my money would be on the behind left side wheel arch of the boot liner.

As for where its disconnected up front, the pipe should be fairly easy to spot?

My old car popped the hose off at the back of the washer bottle, there was just enough room to get my hands in and reconnect it.

if you remove the charcol cannister you can get better access to the other part of the pipe where you need to connect to. They come off here quite a lot.

2008 mk1, ex taxi by any chance as thats a very late one

The rear washer pipe runs down inside of washer bottle between bottle and inner wing then disappears into wiring loom, as said above you might be able to get your hand round and feel it, if not i think 3 10mm nuts hold washer bottle in and it can be moved out enough to see what you need to without removing rest of pipes.

Does the car have the tweeters in the rear doors and if so do they work, the previous owner of my vrs used to carry her dogs in back and they had done a good job of trashing side panels and speakers, one of mine was missing but all wires were there just tooked behind panels. The speakers screw in from underneath aswell and they can be replaced in car but its very fiddly and the speaker connectors are 4 pin as they run to back then run back forward to each rear door, i cut plugs off with abit of wire spare incase i ever need to put them back on and then soldered the 2 matching cables together with an extra bit of wire to run to new speaker
