Is it technically possible to fit one of the front springes the wrong way?

The springs and dampers got changed on my car (along with all sorts of other bits at the front) and I have two symptoms....

1. When getting in the car I sometimes move the wheel and you hear a boing noise. Its then fine.

2. At slow speeds over rough surfaces with lock on there can be a knock now and then.

I'm just wondering if a spring went in the wrong way or something silly.

Any suggestions are greatly appretiated.

I'm no expert but I think the springs are the same either way around I could be wrong, what it sounds like is they didn't seat the springs properly in the strut

Side to side they are the same (im 99% sure), but didn't know if there was a minor difference in up and down sort of thing.

We did it ourselves and it all looks fine. We followed all the correct torque settings and took our time about it.

It then had 'proper' 4 wheel alignment done at a specialist and was hardly out, so it certianly lined up fine.

Other than them two things it drives ok as well.

PS its just on one side the boing, the left.

Might want to just leave it to settle, it will take a while. I replaced the springs, shocks, brake pads and discs, front bearings (pretty much most moving parts) all within the space of a month; there were some noises instantly thereafter and a prolonged time with "boings" from the springs on the front, with lock like you said, but now they are all fine, minus the rear left brake which still rubs!

I get a "boing" when moving the wheel just off centre lock on the left front, turned out to be a seized top mount, though that would be an odd cause when you've just had that all changed over!

Id bet on the top mount bearing

They were both replaced.

Is it poosible to fit them not quite right or are they either on or off?

Mine did this, it had came out if the seating ring, I just crowbarred it back into place and its sorted

Pretty simple to fit!

They do have an arrow on them that should point forwards, but it wont really make a difference.

I would say its a spring seating issue! Possibly at the top side at the top mount!

Only way to check is jack it up and have a look

Going to be well pssed off if we did something silly.

Probably even more so if it turns out the brand new bearing is faulty!

Are they aftermarket springs ? I know on my civic the eibach springs I had came with a plastic sleeve to stop them binding thus making a noise. But can't remember if this is the case on the fabias.

No, all standard and genuine parts from dealer.
