Congratulations

I hope the two of you are very happy together.

I hope that Sparshatts service is the same high standard when I finally get my car.

  • Love the detailing of the bi-xenon lights, with the LED day running lights and the strakes which match the grille

  • I will post the photos separately as I don't think I'll get more than one on each reply :

I'm sure, they didn't single me out for excellent service, rumour has it that Botley (where I went) is better than Fareham - Lee Diment and Andy (forgot his surname) their business manager both very good

Congratulations Timoctav! Do you have the drive mode selection?

Congratulations Timoctav! Do you have the drive mode selection?

Thank you Harkonnen - yes, SE and Elegance versions here have the drive mode selection, haven't tried the different modes yet, it's in "Normal" at the moment.

Thank you for the compliments one and all. Went back to Sparshatts this morning as Her Indoors had noticed lots of tiny scratches on the plastic B pillar trim, duly polished out. I was going to buy some top up engine oil as well, but Skoda are supposed to supply some free of charge, they had none in so the Business Manager raided his demonstrator Octavia and gave me that. Nice cup of cappochino in the showroom whilst they polished the B pillars for me. Definitely very impressed with Sparshatts, that's for sure.

Set up "Eco tips" in the display to remind me to change up, close the windows with the air con on, I'll probably get fed up with it and turn it off again at some point in the future! Love the attention to detail, if you've got a mobile phone connected to Bluetooth you even get a message on the infotainment screen reminding you to take your phone with you when you switch off. As mentioned above, average fuel consumption now 57.2 mpg.....

I noticed after giving mine it's first wash, tiny scratches in the Black also, hope they will polish out! Didn't get a top up bottle of oil either!!

We are waiting for the mpg in all modes in a few weeks

Have you had the chance to play music from your iPhone via Bluetooth? Keen to know if the album art shows up that way too as on the Columbus it has an internal database of album art that's pulled from. Just on the fence between the two systems at the moment (getting an elegance trim) and would be one more reason to stay with Amundsen.

+1 to that

Want to Bluetooth my iPod classic and would like to know if you get any control over iPod via Bluetooth and whether album art, track name, artist name displays etc?

+1 for that too because I have besides my iphone 3 ipods

No, I have the Mitsumi Apple Device Connection, so I don't need to stream with bluetooth so I can't answer your question, sorry. I charge my work Nokia using the cigarette lighter socket and the iPhone with the Mitsumi connection. Strange, the Mitsumi is wired through the ignition and the cigarette lighter is live all the time, have to keep remembering to pull out the Nokia phone charger when I'm not in the car.

Nearly a week on the computer is showing 56.8 mpg overall since I've taken delivery, which I'm quite happy about. Will probably fuel on my way home this evening and see what the actual consumption is. (Now I've worked out how to display overall fuel consumption rather than just journey "from start" figure).

Saturday, weather permitting, I'm having the car professionally detailed.

Please can you post pictures of before and after the detailing.

Can do although the difference doesn't always show up that clearly in photographs...

Just filled up and calculated fuel consumption is 56.9 mpg as against trip computer reading 57.0 mpg. Happy with that as my previous commuting car, a Toyota Yaris 1.4 diesel was doing 59.0 mpg.

Not bad considering the size differential.

This is good, and should get better in time

Will be more than happy with those figures, only get 45mpg from my Alfa 159 1.9jtdm which is finally back on the road after a gearbox rebuild! She only needs to last out a few weeks now till my new Skoda arrives.

Any chance you could try the iPhone via Bluetooth for your fellow forthcoming skoda octavia owners just to see if there is any controls over the music player or to see if album art shows, it was not possible for me to spec the Mitsumi as I needed the car too quickly

It is already - "long term" fuel consumption still creeping up - now 57.4mpg. Amazing for such a big car! Now very close to the Clockwork Rat (Yaris) figures. And that was a super-mini with an 89 bhp diesel! Proves that most Japanese manufactureres are only really interested in developing hybrid technology and are getting increasingly left far behind with diesels.

OK, will give it a go at the weekend and let you know. Got a fair bit on though, so may forget.... Car being detailed Saturday, my local Porsche dealer are offering a free health and safety check so off there Saturday first thing, (I hate the place - sales anyway, but workshop excellent - but I'm only to pleased to get freebies from them)!! and friends round Sunday, but will try and fit it in.

I appreciate it! I think controls should be no issue (it would be a retrograde from all other cars I've ever driven) but the album art question is one I'd like to know. :-)

What distance, mix of roads and typical speeds do you cover on your commute? I have done about 800 miles so far and the long term is reading 53mpg, the average for the current tank so far over that last 350 miles is 55mpg. Some journeys I get a reading in the high 50s or low 60s but these are obviously cancelled out by short trips. The first tank was reading 54mpg on the computer but was 51mpg on Fuelly. I cover about 60% on motorway, 15% cross country, 25% urban on my commute over 72 miles round trip.

I leave for work quite early in the morning (06:15hrs) so traffic is fairly light. Initially an A Road then approx 25 miles on motorway. Total distance is about 40 miles. Now showing 57.8 mpg......

Yes, I got the new 150CR, 2.0TDI, Manual Transmission. It's good but not as good as was hoping as I used to get 52mpg out of the 170CR in the Superb. Timoctav is getting nearer where I want to be, so I must be a little too heavy on the right foot, will have to stop pressing the Sport Button too, even on those short trips to pick up the kids or popping down the shops!!!!
