Yes, I got the new 150CR, 2.0TDI, Manual Transmission. It's good but not as good as was hoping as I used to get 52mpg out of the 170CR in the Superb. Timoctav is getting nearer where I want to be, so I must be a little too heavy on the right foot, will have to stop pressing the Sport Button too, even on those short trips to pick up the kids or popping down the shops!!!!

Must admit being reasonably light footed - probably only until I get bored - cruise at around 75 mph on the M27. I have set the "Eco tips" on, it's amazing how early it encourages changing up. Car is in Normal mode.

  • Love the detailing of the bi-xenon lights, with the LED day running lights and the strakes which match the grille

  • I will post the photos separately as I don't think I'll get more than one on each reply :

I appreciate it! I think controls should be no issue (it would be a retrograde from all other cars I've ever driven) but the album art question is one I'd like to know. :-)

I can answer your question.

I have a Bluetooth connection to an iphone and I can confirm it will play music very well but controls are limited, you can't search albums etc only play what ever is already selected on iphone. If nothing is selected then it starts from 'A' and plays all tracks to 'Z'. There is no album art. Only appears when I connect via mitsumi connection. Hope that helps.

Oops double post.

I've found that too on mine, works too. Although if I can see a hill coming up I ignore it :-)

Thanks for the update, saves Timoctav a job as well!

May stick with the simple USB/Aux cable then rather than Bluetooth my ipod or even get a couple of 32gb SD cards as my blues/rock/metal collection is around 90gb!

May be the Mitsumi connection could be retrofitted?

I had the car detailed on Saturday, my specialist came out and spent a full seven hours hard work on the car - anyone who thinks detailing is the same as valeting is completely wrong! The car now looks a whole lot better than it did when I collected it, the paintwork has areal deep lustre to it. The work carried out was :-

Stage 1

  • Pressure wash wheel arches, clean wheels inside and out, and doors shuts using only natural cleaners.
  • No contact pre-wash using PH Neutral Snow Foam.
  • Wash car with Zymol Shampoo with pure lamb's wool wash mitt.
  • Rinse car using an Aqua Gleam De-ionising Water Filter.
  • Hand dry using soft drying towels.

Stage 2

  • Klay bar bodywork to remove any surface contamination making paintwork ultra smooth.
  • Single stage machine polish (If required).
  • Carry out HD Cleanse process - this cleanses the paintwork ready for the wax to bond to the surfaces.

Stage 3

  • The exterior is then finished using a Zymöl Glaze which will give your car a shoe finish and depth of shine.

Stage 4

  • Full interior clean including; clean and condition leather, clean windows and dress tyres

I tried to upload some photographs however this site says I have exceeded my upload limits and wouldn't even let me if I started a new thread - seems very restricted for some reason. If anyone has got any ideas I would welcome them although the photographs don't really do the finish justice. Cerainly money well spent considering it costs pretty much the same as Autoglym Lifeshine that dealers try and push on their customers.

I do hope adding this won't attract the couple of trolls that appeared to attack me on another thread on this site over the last few days for no apparent reason.. ...

Unfortunately you get arseholes everywhere ;) ;) best thing is to ignore them.

Nothing like a good detail to bring out the best in your pride and joy, especially when someone else is doing it.

Cheers

This is good, and should get better in time

It has. Just filled up for the second time, 481 miles, 35.74 litres (7.86 gallons) = 61.18 mpg. Truly amazing, I was expecting mid fifties mpg at best based on the fuel consumption of my little 1.4 litre diesel Toyota Yaris!

That's good Mileage. Is it Combined figures ? Timoctav.

My 40 mile daily commute is around 15 miles A roads and 25 miles motorway. This afternoon after work before I filled up I had to divert into Fareham nearby to Portsmouth, which is always conjested and most of this week I've had the air con on, so the potential if anything is for slightly better results. The computer is showing 59.3 mpg "long term " and was reading 61.5 mpg from last refuelling so that's pretty accurate.

The figure I quoted was accurate as I'd zeroed the trip counter from the previous fill up and worked it out myself.

Next fill : 29.62 litres (6.51 gallons) / 407.3 miles = 62.51 mpg. Amazing! Driving mode : Normal throughout

Awesome mpg, and no compromise on power and performance.

I think you must be driving downhill everywhere Timmy! You southern'ers want to come oop ere and try some proper Yorkshire hills and see what that does to your fancy 62mpg!! :giggle:

I've had 57mpg out of my 2008 Mk2 Scout over a tank full so to be honest I'd expect the newer CR engine and non 4x4 drivetrain to be capable of at least 10% better, if not more. I would hope that the 62 would turn into more of a 68 once the car is run in.

...but your average is 46.6, I have managed up to 66.5 over a 40 mile commute but only 57.8 max over a tank so far. Average over 3 tanks so far only 55 so would not expect any more than that in your area as your hills in Hudds are worse than South Yorks. I used to average 50-52 in the 170CR Berb. I am saving about £10 on a fill up due to smaller tank, which is 18% saving but getting about 95% of range on a tank full so that would equate back to 12% saving or 56 mpg, which is spot on my last fill up via Fuelly.

At 98k miles my economy is still getting better as well, average over last 12 months is 49.3 over 20k miles

Just booked a two week break next year in one of our favourite locations, Askrigg in Wensleydale right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales. Some of my all time favourite driving roads, so will be in sports car, not Skoda!

We just love North Yorkshire!

Well I'm not using the car much this week, on leave so blowing the dust off the sports car - petrol head day tomorrow at Silverstone, then touring round, so I'll throw the gauntlet down for someone to beat my mpg figures.......

I normally avoid the M1 on a Fri night and take the scenic route back home via the A6097/A614 and I hit 59mpg, so decided to do the same in reverse this morning and managed 62mpg.  Normal mode both ways.  A few more of those might help my plight, otherwise I think you need to include the 997 in your average mpg calcs based on total miles travelled in both cars!

That would handicap me somewhat - 26mpg average, 30 mpg on a decent run. On a fast German Autobahn early Sunday morning "see how fast I could go before I became a chicken" run it dropped to around 15 mpg

One tip for better fuel consumption - don't use supermarket or budget fuels. They might comply with octane / Cetane ratings but they don't have the additives that premium brands include. I use Shell whenever I can or BP / Esso. On a BMW we used to own it made a difference of up to 3 mpg

Good fuel also preserves the engine.
