Satnav in Mk 2 FL

Featured Replies

Now it's 3 years old and has become mine, I'm thinking of replacing the Bolero with a Kenwood DNX510DAB. This gets around the lack of Bluetooth and satnav.

However, I'd quite like to know from someone what knows about these things whether its worth changing the existing aerial for a sharks fin - the VW one because its subtler, rather than the Skoda one.

Is this a straight swap do you think? A major exercise? Worth the bother (given that the Kenwood comes with its own dashboard one)?

I can't work out whether the Kenwood takes six CDs like the Bolero. I assume probably not which is a pity because I listen to books on CD.

Also is the Bolero sized double DIN the same in the Mk 3 Octavia (which will be my next car in a year's time)? it would be nice to be able to put the Kenwood in.

Any help gratefully received.

Of course that should have read DNX521DAB...

with regards to the Mk 3 the stereos are completely different its just a screen thats in the dash the actual cd part and sd slots are in the glovebox

Personally id look into buying a Columbus. Relatively easy to get hold of at decent prices now; also you'll retain the OEM look and feel of the car.
