The tyre business is tough

Featured Replies

I'll be needing two new front tyres soon and been looking at some different tyres. I want to try the Falkens ZE914's so seen Camskill have them for £69.70 a tyre - then found them on www.allnewtyres.co.uk where they have them for £68.31 so thought I'd try the price match on camskill as I've been using them for years - and they refused it! lol.

So for the sake of £2.78 they are willing to lose business? I know business is tough currently but that seems stupid to me.

Few questions - does anyone have any feedback on these falken's and has anyone used www.allnewtyres.co.uk at all?

Or for the sake of £2.78 are you going to leave a company that you've used and trusted for years to take your trade elsewhere?

That seems stupid to me

Regards all

Most likely not, no - but just never heard of them before so was just wondering :)

Because they probably sell thousands of tyres everyday and for someone to argue over £2.78 it isn't worth the hassle for them. To me I'd pay the difference for reliability. For personal experience the customers who argue over a few pence are the ones who cause more hassle in the long run.

On the other hand, why trust a company that does not honour it's price match policy?

Didn't know they had one. Don't buy my tyres from them

I'm only going on what has been previously mentioned here:-

In my last dealing with Camskill they accused me of stealing. Over a week and 7 phone calls to a ****** who works in the office there it took a strongly worded email to sort the issue out, infact 10 minutes and the issue was rectified.

I presumed it was him trying to price match like loads of people do when they buy. "so and so is doing X for this much,. Can you knock money off?" I looked at their site and they do say they'll match prices. But I still stand by what I said. It's worth that £2 or so to know you'll get what you order.

I get my tyres from Tyretraders. Website looks crap but on average cheaper and get them next day normally.

Just looked at the price match email and it was actually price matched when their price was at 73.50 so must have gone down.

Anyway, 2 quid, 10 quid - I did the price match (for the first time ever) just to see if it will make a difference, I'll most likely buy my tyres from them anyway though. If they offer a price match service why not try and use it to see if you can get a bit off?

Surely if you get even just a couple of quid off it'll leave the customer thinking they've got a better deal and will bring them back next time?

Does the price you are comparing include P&P?

BTW, I too used Tyretraders when Camskil were out of RainSports last year (or year before). Tyres came within 2 or 3 days, so was happy with their service.

Yes, on is 5.98 and the other 6.00 for p&p so not really part of it.
