Motor noise when driver door opened

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've just bought a 2006 Fabia 64 and when the driver door is opened, a motor starts to make a noise. It's sounds like it may come from the radio, but I haven't got a clue. Does anyone know? Help!

Fuel pump readying the engine for start, that's still my best guess. If you leave the door open for a while (30 mins?), it runs again for another couple of seconds, presumably 'cos the fuel pressure would have dropped away during that time. If you're working on something delicate in the dashboard area at the time and you're not expecting it, it may make you jump.

I know that on my Octavia when I open the door the stereo kicks in (with the screen off). The reason for this is it's a Columbus sat nav and takes a while to boot up so it gets a head start from you opening the door.

I doubt the standard unit would need to do this.

Both of my Fabias have done this and I reckon it's fuel pump priming too. I find it quite reassuring to know that the little fellas that work under the bonnet are getting ready to go to work before I've even got in the car :nerd:

Well my excuse is that I'm old and suffering from age related childhood regression - or perhaps I've downed more of the single malt than I thought I had! :notme:

I'm happy to take your collective words for it.  My car is the most basic of models, wind-up windows, no central locking, the centre console has more blanks than a firing range and trying to explain to a 7 year old how a cassette works is more difficult than you'd imagine!

Thanks for getting back to me though.
