Recommend Me Some Components and a Head Unit Please

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm hoping to acquire a Mk2 VW Caddy in the near future and would like some advice on audio equipment please. I should hopefully soon be acquiring a 12" JL Audio Basswedge with a Kenwood amp for the back, so I'd like your advice on components and a head unit for the front. My budget is about £200 in total.

I'm far from an expert in this area, but essentially I'd like good quality items that will cope with decent volumes without distortion of damage to the components and produce a well rounded sound.

Head units first then; I've had Alpine and JVC units before and like them. I want one with a USB slot and an audio out jack on the front, it'll need subwoofer jacks at the back too. I'd like it to have decent EQ and sub controls for setting the sound up correctly. As a guide I've been looking at this:

JVC KD-R731BT Bluetooth Car Stereo System with Full Speed iPod Control and Front USB/AUX Input

Onto the components, I've been looking at these Focal ones:

Focal Performance PS165 6.5" 165mm Component Car Speakers

I've read good things about Focal, these ones in particular won an award.

Both the above items can be had for under £200 on Amazon, way less than on car audio sites.

So, please let me know what you think to these and offer any alternatives you'd recommend and where to get them from.

Thanks in advance, I'll look forward to your replies.

Clarkey.
