OMG just been quoted £160 for a new bulb from a dealer ! Is this right ?

It's a HID bulb, yes, dealers will charge you the earth, no-brand bulbs can be picked up for £15-£20 or so, and philips or osram for £50-60.

Did they quote for both bulbs at £160, and did they say what brand and model no.?

Have a look on hids-direct for replacement bulbs. Branded (osram/Phillips) are £70-90 per pair, plus postage.

I got a pair of branded Osram for £50 (including VAT) each about a year ago.

Are they D2S?

Count yourself lucky it is only the bulb! Realised last night that my off side light mountings have snapped following a minor shunt a few months ago. Only thing that gave it away was a slight vibration in the light beam when stopped at traffic lights.

Skoda Cardiff just quoted me £450.56 incl vat for a new unit! Without the bulb!!

And this was not spotted by Skoda when the adjusted the lights at the last service!
