As we later model owners know the carpet down the sides of the boot wheel arches is no longer fitted. I found a cheap solution. Carpet tile squares from B & M Retail at £1.25 each (you only need one) Make a paper template, very easy as the line can be followed by a pencil where the carpet was fitted. Transfer this to the rear of the carpet tile, they are different templates for each side, so do not cut two the same. A Stanley Knife cuts them easily, then check final fit and scissor cut slight oversize if necessary. Use some spray carpet glue or similar and press fit for instant adhesion.

The following shots are the carpets in situ before final gluing and permanent fixing.

So as an alternative, would your wife's magic tape to the job?

I'm guessing possibly yes.

^ A problem with ordinary double sided tape is that the adhesive does sometimes dry out. Carpet layers use a long life tape. Alternatives here might be Tiger Seal or heavy-duty Velcro strips?

A good, cheap job that really improves the appearance of the boot area. Well done - I may well follow your lead!

For the outlay it cost you Jon,very little it makes you wonder why Skoda stopped doing it in the first place.Good tip and well done.

When did they stop doing it? mine is a June 2010 SE 4x4 and it does'nt have the side carpet fitted.

My current one is same spec as yours , built mid may 2010 and does have them, so it must have been end of May 2010 I guess?

Sometime in May is the change over to the new year from memory, that ties up.
