To my eyes it's not at all "Beige". That's just what the V5 says. I think the V5 may be wrong? Or at best not quite right?

The car looks more of a silver to me. Definitely NOT "very pale brown" that Wikipedia defines "beige" as. I'm quoting the nearest colour in the brochure to what the car actually looks like to me - Steel grey. But brochure colour reproduction is often notoriously unlike reality, due to paper printing vs real 3D colour on a vehicle, particularly for metallics. There's no "Beige" in the Yeti brochure I have. "Cappucino" in there looks beige to me. But that's a 2012 brochure and my car is a 2010 build. So colour names could have changed?

I've checked a couple VIN decoder sites now. Seems VAG VINs don't include a body colour code. (Do any now?). By contrast (pun!) BMWs are so simple! Body colour is stamped on the strut tower. OK its in Deutsch, but at least its in words. E.G. " Avus Blau", "Topaz Blau", etc. Do Yetis have something similar somewhere, I could check? Car is "out" with SWMBO at the moment so I can't go look for myself.

The DVLC only dictates certain colours on the V5 document and this is the list:

V5C document to the DVLA:- Beige, Blue, Maroon, Red, Bronze, Cream, Multi, Silver, Brown, Green, Orange, Turquoise, Black, Gold, Purple, White,Grey, Pink and Yellow.

My Yeti is Rosso Brunello but shows as Maroon on the V5 documentation, so I would assume Cappucino would be Beige and so on.

  • A wee mock-up for you Jonceebee of how it might look (have I missed out any bling?)

  • I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you

  • IMHO it spoils the individual look of the yeti. The curved bottom (Bob...NO) and angle of the B pillar are the defining feature of the side view.

Similar to Isle of Man, (non DVLA), my Yeti is Pacific Blue but classed as blue by our powers that be.

Tony

What do people reckon to those black panels you can get to go on the B-pillar / door frames? That make it continuous black from A-pillar to rear. Are they OK in the flesh (not seen one "live")? Or do they spoil the "Yetiness"?

Yep - White Yeti does look good. There's one lives quite near me in Harrogate (nearly said exactly where!). But white, or black, sounds like too much cleaning required for me?

Henry,

Look at Marie's renditions in this thread:

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/278776-white-with-blackyeah-or-nay/

for various clour combinations.

The V5 and the dealer who sold it to me (Brookroyd in Killinghall - excellent btw!)

I got mine from Brookroyd Garage too! Tremendous Skoda specialist. I'd rather give them my business than Benfield any day

P.S. I think your Yeti might be Muscovado!

Muscovado:

Does your V5C document show your colour as Bronze or Beige then?

LOVE the badge on the boot, where did you get it from, and how much was it??

:)

From Superskoda. I think it was about 35 euros - sorry, realise now you've already been told this! I had originally thought of a black and white badge but decided the chrome would pick up on the other chrome/silver parts better.

Andrew, I'm trying to imagine what yours might look like if the roof rails were black too? Or would that be a step too far?

Although not a huge fan of the part-silver roof bars they were standard on the L&K and I think this colour scheme suits them as well as any (it emphasises the match to the silver on the rubbing strips and the front/rear 'skid panels').

Does your V5C document show your colour as Bronze or Beige then?

Sorry - lost somewhere - 'Brown'

Looks fantastic, (but of course I knew that already); imo silver roof bars are the best with this look - and no black B pillars (something I considered for ages but stayed with the white); personal choice though. Interesting to note how you placed the rear bigfoot - mine is on almost vertically, thought a Yeti might have trouble skiing with turned out feet :-)

I'm thinking about getting a silver wrap for my Muscovado that I pick up today but have ben quoted £459.00 seems alot to me?

Would rather have a 170 re-map for 350, what does anyone think?

Thanks Graham. Excellent link to a closely related thread.

Looking at Marie's rendition and Johann's example Francais, I'm now definitely in the "Keep it Yeti" camp, with the distinctive, body colour B-pillars. Do like those graded lower door side decals though.

Just bought some clear film protector "foils" for mine, for the trailing edge of the rear doors, but havene't had chance to get them applied yet (due to issues with the BMW having blown open its inlet manifold at the seam!).

Would definitely be the re-map and the bhp for me. But then I'm biased, as I do like to have some torque under my right foot now and then. But not likely to do either to mine just yet, as I'm not its main driver and Our Lass is very happy with it as it is.

Just spotted that my member status has moved from "Newbie" to "Finding my Feet". My Profile photo of the much loved Integrale with all four of its feet well off the deck (on, or more technically off the Isle of Man) seems rather appropriate for that. So I think I'll leave it there a little longer. Still haven't got a photo of the Felicia rally car scanned.

+1 on the Steve at Brookroyd vs Benfield - every day! Been great to deal with I've found so far. Not a fully franchised specialist though (I suspect?) so only handles 2nd hand motors, not new. Still excellent, whatever.

Definitely not Muscovado, as no hint of brown about it. Hence why I don't think its Cappucino/Beige either. Definitely a silver of some description. Its parked up most days during working hours in BL village.

I'm liking the Storm Blue of yours. Very close to the colour of my last two BMWs. But if the Yeti was that colour we wouldn't be able to have the converstaion: "Which car are we taking? Blue Car or Yeti?" See the Yeti, in its short time with us so far, has already transcended being described as "The Silver Car" - to its name. Youngest daughter calls it "Sergei". Either way I reckon its a keeper, so been adding a few bits and bobs like chrome tail pipe extensions, etc.

Preferred the slightly cheeky look for the foot! Agree about the B pillars - they look very striking left white.

My wrap was just under £350 inc VAT.

It looks great Andrew. Just the silver roof bars jar bit as to said you had no choice in the matter. Love the mirrors.

How much would they charge just to do the mirrors?

At least, that's what my daughter calls it!

At long last, photos of my Candy White L&K ('Blanche') showing black-wrapped roof and mirrors, new badges/logos and chrome trim on a/c controls.

I like it!

That's nice. It's just crying out for some side stripes al la Mariek though.

I don't know about the company I used, but another quoted £75 for wrapping mirrors only. I think the roof bars jar less with the wrap, as the silver contrasts nicely against the black (and, as I said, picks up other trim elements in the same finish) as opposed to not quite toning in against the background of a white roof.

Thanks... that's reasonable I think.

Hi Andrew: Another question if you don't mind replying. Does the film fit well around the sunroof profile and the roof bars. I really fancy having the roof finished in Silver to match all the chrome I have on the exterior but can see a lot of fitting required around the sun roof frame, does it look ok and are you happy it will stay in place?

Yep, new front badge ;-)

^ sorted
