Is this worth it? Good deal?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, on my 3rd fabia now, got the Skoda bug!

my current Fabia is for sale at the moment, and I've just bought the exact same but slightly modified.

The car is quite far away from me and I bought it on ebay. Little nervous because it has no Tax and MOT but i thought what the hell, why not.

I think that I got it pretty cheap but then I wondered if everyone else thinks its a good deal or not.

Here is the link to the car I just purchased, I'd love to know what you think :)

All the best

George :)

Negatives - It's been re-engined: there was no mk1 vRS Estate.

Positives - The claimed specs are right.

Put a stock set of wheels back on it and you've got a right sleeper once it has Tax and a Ticket.

What do you think the worst thing could be for an MOT failure on this car?

Im collecting it on Saturday and going to book it in for an MOT there too.

Yeah i love that idea... wolf in sheeps clothing ;)

Do think they missed out there never making a fabia VRS ,

Bet they would look quiet good with vrs kit on altho don't mind those wheels it has on

That's a ruddy bargain mate.

Not advertised as a vRS, nor does it say it's had an engine change.

So I'd expect it to be 5 speed box.

The wheels and coilovers are worth £600 on their own.

Not to mention the hybrid turbo. :)

Assuming it's been taken care of (belonged to a rozzer by the look of it)

you have got a teriffic wolf in sheeps clothing.

I nearly spent that much getting my crappy old van through its MOT

this week.

Personally I think it will fly through it's MOT, it looks well cared for.

woops, didnt see prev post. You've made me feel much better about the purchase!

I thought I'd get it rather than modifying mine as it would have cost more.

Excited to drive it home on the weekend!

What makes you think it was owned by a 'rozzer'?

What makes you think it was owned by a 'rozzer'?

If I've misunderstood and the guy you

are buying it off is owner number 2, then I'd say it was an ex police car originally.

My sister is a copper and they have a couple of plain clothes mark 1 Fabias

in her yard.

Don't know how I could have missed that. I imagine that the police take good care of their cars. (when they're not chasing super villans)

Looks Ok but how do you plan to get it home with no tax or MOT and the ad says may need a windscreen for MOT.

You may be lucky but chances could be slim or the seller wouldnt mention it.

If it fails then you cant tax it or drive it home.

May be worth getting it uplifted on a low loader.

Or towed on a tow rope?

Well my plan was to book it in for an MOT for the day that I go to collect it, and hope that it passes! It's not the end of the world if it doesn't though as I do have some reletives that live sort of near by so I will stay there and wait for Autoglass!

Once the MOT is complete, I'll pop to the post office, tax it and drive home :)

..If all goes to plan.

Looks like a bargain! A bog standard 54 plate estate would be cheap at a grand wouldn't it? I walk past a Y plate one every morning. Absolutely battered with a tan coloured cloth interior but IMHO it looks great!

Needs a VRS front end on it!

Thank you, you've really put my mind at rest! A VRS front end would totally finish it off. They're impossible to find :(

for 1K I'd take a punt on it fo' sho  with what you're saving I'd look into getting a six speed box and drive shafts from a vRS

rear enders from a scrapper.

Bargain, 150k miles is nothing on these engines if looked after (which it looks like)

I have a PD100 Fabia with 178k miles, got the GT1749V (PD115) turbo fitted and running 153bhp and 270lb/ft.

As GTI Jazz Blue said, get some steel wheels fitted (16'' needed looking at the front brakes) and it'll be a really good sleeper :)

I hope it really is 170bhp, I cant comprehend just how quick that will be. My current Fabia estate PD100 which is for sale by the way ;) for 950 hehe i think is more than powerful enough, and its standard. I love the torque of diesels :)

Once you've figured that out, read the small print where it says something about non Freedom members hinting about things for sale :)
