Aircon regassing

Featured Replies

Company literally round the corner from me is doing a recon at a standard charge of £35 +vat, which seems quite cheap to me, but is there anything I need to know to make sure they're not missing out on?

He says the existing gas gets discharged, a vacuum test for 20 minutes and a recharge assuming it doesn't fail, but apart from that I can't think of anything else they should be doing. (can't remember what else he said, but those bits seemed the usual stuff)

If you are concerned, try Kwikfit Who charge about 10 pound more but if they don't reduce cooling by, I think they say 10%, then NO charge. but they will probably want to change your shocks as well.

Nah, he seems pretty upfront, just wanna make sure there's nothing obvious I'm missing. Just wat my car cooler and very wary of going to the kwikfit monkeys, especially when they're getting an extra £15 out of it.

The regas will all be computerized so all he will end up doing is connecting up the tubes to the system and then letting it do its stuff. If you can get it done for £35 i would go for it.

KwikFit do the no improvement- no charge as I abused it when i thought my compressor might be shot. They recharged the system but it would not cool the air so i did not get charged for it

As compressor uses piston to pump the gas, similar there'll be metal residue in the system. So the recommendation is to discharge the old gas and regas it. Make sense?

Yeah, he said various things about if you're legislated to do it, you have to discharge first to be allowed to practice it professionally, summat like that. Read something similar before, so it kinda made sense.

That's pretty much what the mobile guy I used said to me too. And it wasn't a dissimilar amount. System is great now although I possibly have a minor leak given how soon it needed doing after the last time.
