roof boxes - opinions welcomed!

Featured Replies

In August, my family's going camping and so I need to fit my 1.4 octavia hatchback with a roof box. I need to keep costs low (might buy second hand?) and would like advice from you guys on the following:

* What are all the items that make up a 'kit'? (roof box, roof bars, feet(!), etc..)

* What's the maximum length box I'll get away with considering my octavia is a hatch (not estate).

* If there's a product you'd recommend me to avoid - that info is useful too!

Cheers.

Unless you're intending to use it after your hols, why not hire one?

I've been looking for somewhere to hire and it seems no one does it anymore.

My tip for those who think they may need one in the future is to buy on EBay in January/February. They were selling for about

No, they dont :P I found them through Google, where the description said they did. However, I called them and was told it was too much hassle so they no longer off a roof box hire service.

Hiring sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately roofbox.co.uk no longer hire roof boxes...

I didn't say they did :P
