vrs, brake noise, fault finding

Featured Replies

All,

recently ~i've notice a loud squealing noise from the front drivers side wheel.

i've had the discs and pads replaced, still a noise

i've bled the brake fluid, still a noise.

it's not constant, only after heavy brake use; i can get to work and home with no noise, but a spirited run to the shop and it'll start.

before i start looking at new calipers / ABS sensors / BMCs, do any of you have an idea?

Backing plate behind the brake disc or covering the ball joint rubbing?

Gotta be, metal to metal of some sort.

Look at back of brake pad which contacts 'Heat Shield' shim, in caliper piston.

Brake pad locating lugs maybe dry that sit in anti-rattle/squeal guides.

Smear copper-based grease where safe to do so.

Check for brake pad slip up/down movement within the anti-rattle/ squeal guides.

I had to further shim brake-pads out as I had up/down movement and a squeal until I packed it up.

As said distorted back plate contacting brake disc is a possibility.

Good luck.
