i've not had much problem but there again the 1.9 TDI VRS furby is quite nippy

funniest one i've seen was a chavved up saxo racing an old SAAB 9000 off the lights, needless to say the SAAB won by a mile... despite the fact it was also pulling a caravan at the time!.. possibly a bit of a sleeper that one :P

You guys might enjoy these overtaking shenanigans with 130+ bhp engines, but if I build up some speed to comfortably overtake a car with my puny 73 bhp, and they suddenly start to accelerate, it's a proper pain.

That's fine but to dawdle along then deliberately close the gap thus endangering me and my family's life is not on.

I remember the debate quite well :D

I think recently it 's any type of car overtaking. We're all being sheepified.

I agree, and recently took 4 at once down a hill with a big bend at the bottom (Yes, I know the road; A83 down off the Rest to the bend into Glen Croe. One of them had overtaken me earlier coming up Loch Lomond (and I was at an indicated 60mph, yes really when he did so). This seemed to wake him up again, or maybe it was the Discovery 2 that overtook him just after me? and he caught me again whilst I was at the Wade Bridge waiting to get into Inveraray, but I was turning off there and he wasn't.

I had a 92 saab 9000. Heavy old things they are but at the very least it had

a 2.3 16v engine but more likely a 2.3 Turbo. Maybe even the 3.0 V6.

Mine was the 2.3 16v CSE and it was happy to sit at 130mph whilst still feeling

very stable. Quite a thirsty car though, but very heavy and still able to haulass.

Talking of being overtaken by unexpected vehicles. I drove home from Friern

Barnet the other night. I left my friends house at 11.37pm after the A406-A40-M40-M25

section I hit the M4 at about 10 past 12. Once I got up to speed not one single vehicle

passed me from Junction 4B to Junction 18 when I came off.

The motorway was pretty quiet to be fair but it wasn't empty.

Still more than a few middle lane hoggers as well which really boils my pee

particularly on a very quiet motorway.

I passed every single vehicle I saw travelling in the same direction

including a black Fabia vRS around Swindon. Some stayed with me for a bit

and I overtook them, then them me a few times but I just kept my speed

constant and after a while due to their inconsistent speed they gradually disappeared

into my wake.

Bloody Audi drivers eh!

Except for one thing, I was in my 1.5 dci Kangoo van. B)

(Which has recently had a severe boost leak repaired)

I arrived home near Bath at 01.28 Door to door 122 miles.

65.94mph average speed.
