What a great feature - Elegance

Featured Replies

obviously being male, i have not read all of the manuals yet!!

Driving home from a meeting, and the low fuel light came on, message on maxidot aswell. Then I happened to look over to my left and saw that the Armunsden was displaying a message 'would you like me to find the nearest pertrol station'. bearing in mind I was not using the Nav at the time, I thought this was very clever.

The fact I said NO may not have been such a good idea!!!!

It's cleverer than that it provides you with a list of petrol stations from which you can select which one you want directing to.

Now that's a decent idea!

So many clever ideas in this car - I'm hugely impressed with mine, you could argue quite strongly that it's pretty much all the car you'd ever need in the real world.

Good for in an unfamiliar area, but would be a pain in the butt if you wanted to leave it to a place you know you can reach. :D

That's a good feature, been included on LR/RR sat nav for a while and was also on an Insignia VXR I had recently.

Yeah agree.....Skoda...."Simply Clever"  .

Wish there dealers are same.

Can it direct me to the nearest Costa, when I'm running low on caffeine.  :giggle:

Sparshatts Botley have been very good so far, but time will tell I guess.

They are the same in the worst way possible. Only a few are different.

My overall Skoda dealer experience during the last eight years of owning different Skodas has been exceptional and its one of the reasons why I stick with the brand. (Its also THE opposite reason that makes me not want to buy another Ford!)

Agree absolutely. You want to experience what a really bad dealer is like buy a Ford, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, or Renault. Just look up Which? And J D Power Customer satisfaction surveys. Or any marque from a dealership that is owned by a large group such as Inchcape. The exception to this is groups like Sytner, or smaller ones like D1ck Lovett, which are genuine enthusiasts. Lexus, Toyota or Honda always first class as they have to follow the praiseworthy Japanese business ethos of having customers, not victims.

Stupid site software won't let me use the abbreviated name for Richard.....

I know some on here think we Skoda owners see our cars and dealers through rose tinted glasses but in my 24 years of car ownership to date, I would rank my overall experience of the manufacturers and dealers as follows...

1st - Skoda, 2001 Octy I, 2009 Octy II, 2013 OctyIII, 2009 Superb II

2nd - BMW, 2005 1 Series

3rd - Seat, 1994 Cordoba

4th - Ford, 1999 Focus I, 2003 Mondeo III

5th - Vauxhall, 1986 Astra II, 1989 Astra IIFL, 1996 Astra IIIFL

6th - VW, 2006 Passat

I have also owned a 1979 Talbot Horizon and 1986 Pug 205 both of which never went to a dealer so can't rank them. I was most disappointed by VW, as the quality of the car and the dealer did not come anywhere near the image most people expect of VW for lots of reasons. Vauxhall were my first love, but more recent ownership experiences make me realise that was my rose tinted era! Ford make great drivers cars but the ownership experience come service time makes you feel worthless, shame! SEAT was still emerging from post-Fiat ownership when I had my Cordoba, it was the GLX with the 1.8 8V unit from the Golf Mk III and was flawless. BMW, only had the 1 series for 5 months but the dealer even gave me a courtesy full valet when I popped in for a set of wipers, so top honours go to Skoda for providing me with over 140,000 miles of happy motoring so far, and many more to come.

For me it's:

1st Honda - 99 HRV

2nd Hyundai - 2006 Santa Fe

3rd Skoda - 2008 Octavia Scout

4th Renault - 2004 Scenic

Yea my car has it and it can be a great feature if ur in an area u don't know that well

For me it's

1. TVR - Tamora & Cerbera

2. Toyota - Auris & MR2

3. Skoda - Octavia

4. Hyundia - Coupe

5. Rover - 216

6. Seat - Leon

99. Peugeot - 206, 306 & 308

The Peugeot were just useless, but my wife liked them until I convinced her to try something else.

Skoda's position is maybe slightly down because of the current delays with my mk III.

Timoctav, I am little disappointed with Sparshatt Botley sales so far (service and parts dept are great), but maybe I'm expecting too much.

Wow!! A TVR man - great cars in their days - my last Alfa - a 164 - I bought from a real enthusiast dealer - Monza Sport in Southampton - and they were also TVR dealers. Whenever my Alfa went in for service I always managed to borrow a TVR - usually a Griffith and on one memorable occasion a Griffith 500. Absolutely wonderful and great to hear the marque may be resurrected soon. Everything else must be soulless after TVR, but I guess you were on first name terms with the mechanics!! After some time with the 164 and a great relationship with Monza Sport incompetent, useless and out of touch Fiat took the Alfa franchise away from them and put them all with horrible disinterested Fiat dealers - and that ended my Alfas. Went to a BMW 328i coupe after that, great car but lacked any soul whatsoever.

I got the distinct impression that not all the sales staff at Botley are brilliant, I dealt with Lee Diment who was very good. Andy the business manager also came across very well. Hopefully be some time before I deal with them again as I need to keep this car a long time. I've spent far too much dosh on them in recent years.......

Can't believe you are ranking the Skoda below a Daewoo and a Renault. had to Google the other, appears to be a re-badged Citroen, hopefully you just lost the ranking bit in translation!

From reading the manual, I thought the petrol station thing only worked on a Columbus system

No it works on the amunsdsen too

Does the standard elegance have daylight running lights

Yes they are set within the headlight unit and can be turned off if you wish.

The Skoda Citigo has had this feature since it was launched, as long as you have the nav unit plugged in of course. :)

Good, again from manual I thought it was an extra with xenons only
