I still believe that we can get the results we need in the coming events but I also hope that our luck changes very quickly for the better as well

Sounds a bit ominous to me :(

Think they will be back to rallying octavia's next year .......if rallying at all.

Must say I am very disappointed.Expected great things when the fabia WRC first came on to the scene.Oh well

If Skoda are to continue in the WRC next year there will have to be some changes.

Either a reduction in the number of rallies (Mitsubishi also want this), or an opt out clause enabling them to compete in a minimum number of rallies. What

As for rallying the new Octavia I think this will be highly unlikely, the car is too heavy for a start, this being one of the reasons they stopped using the Octavia in the first place also take a look at a WRC and note were the wheels sit, you will see that they are as near to the corner of the car as practicable, if they where to use the Octavia I don

The old Octavia had a hell of a overhang at the back (NOT GOOD) and because of the weight issues punished its front tyres. Drivers complained that their tyres were going of after only a few kilometres especially on tarmac. Perhaps if the Octavia had been more Golf shaped then it would have made a better WRC. Don

Yeah the octy wasn't manouverable enough for WRC hence it being dropped in favour of the Fabia. That was the only reason th eFabia VRS came out for the homologation rules.

The Skoda Team have a tiny budget compared to the likes of Subaru and Ford.

It costs somewhere in the region og

I have to admit to giggling slightly as that Fabia gently teetered over that edge and gently rolled slowly down that big drop... Sort of reminded me of something. ;)

Not good for the competition though. :(

If Skoda get their act together next year could be interesting with no Peugeot and Citreon. I'm sure Skoda and VAG could increase the budget a bit with how well Skoda's are selling.

It's a definate none starter for the Octavia though. The Octy is basically a small family hatch floorpan with a massive rear end stuck on, exactly what you don't want in a rally car as it increase the pendulum effect when changing direction. It's one of the main reasons why Subaru's domination was ended by the 206 and Zara although Pegeot seem to have shot themselves in the foot by opting for the 307 Cabrio jobby.

The Scooby doesn't actually have too much weight behind the rear axle, a thin sheet steel boot is a lot lighter than a massive hatch with the side steel structure and glass behind the rear axle.

Cheers
