  • Also managed to get the Team Heko Deflectors of Wind on too..       Now waiting for some semi decent weather so I can try out this wee box of goodies.. Furby's in in need of a proper detail..

  • Ok so your new exhaust is going on.. what about the dog? :wonder:   Is he going on the rear shelf to nod at every one you smoke

  • Bad news! At least it wasn't a lamb like mine

Yes it does, annoyed me at first although I quite like it now.. :D Love to know why it makes that noise though..

Its sounds awesome on boost though, properly loud aswell when you give it some stick.. Looking forward too getting it mapped to see what difference that makes..

Same as mine, no end of people tell me it sounds **** but then when it comes on boost they say it sounds good for a diesel lol. Mine changed no end when I got it mapped its a lot louder but sounds better. Think it's the turbo whistling through the pipe at idle that makes the jet engine noise

I get that too, a lad at work told me my exhaust sounded f*****, but he managed to spend 15 grand on a 1.2 Corsa so I told him where to go.. On another note I gave it some stick while overtaking my mate on his bike the other day.. He later said it sounded 'naughty'.. ;)

They do sound awesome on boost and I can see why to a normal person the exhaust might sound ****ed but I'm growing to like it. You'll love the sound when you get it mapped

Cheers..! :)  Colour Is VW - Viper Green, originally planned to use Skoda Rallye green but found it hard to come across.. Really like the viper green though, really pops on the strut brace..

Plan is to spray the calipers the same colour, hopefully get to it next month.. I already heat tested it by spraying some on the exhaust cat and it survived that without catching fire or flaking off so the brake calipers should be no problem..

Love the green I wanted the same on my silver furbie, how much paint was required for your engine bay and where did you purchase it from, keep up the thread might have to use some of your ideas

This Is where I got It from.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aerosol-Spray-Paint-VW-AUDI-L98B-VIPER-GREEN-Golf-Passat-Bora-Vento-Jetta-S-/300611608087?

I used about 3/4 of a can and that was spraying it quite liberally.. I used rust-oleom primer and Halfords clear lacquer, so far it been holding up very well..

Feel free to borrow as many ideas as you want bud..

Few updates..

Finally got round to doing the elephant mod the other day.. Routed the hose round the back of the engine to vent next to the exhaust tunnel..

Not noticed a huge difference but there was quite alot of oil in the breather tube that came off so stopping that being circulated into the intake can't be a bad thing..

Also while i was there spotted that the boost hose joining to the ASV was a few mm loose and had about 5mm of play in it.. Cars been making a low pitch whistle noise for a while on low throttle or revved at standstill.. Think this may be the root cause although need to take it out for a drive to be sure.. So anyway tried a little pikey mod to resolve the issue..

Much more secure now.. First impressions suggest its stopped the whistle, not 100% sure that was the cause yet but either way It aint good having a boost hose hanging off..

On another note hoping to get it mapped in the beginning of January..

Looking good. Cant wait to get mine cleaned up as well.

Booked in for a remap this friday..

Not sure how long the clutch/flywheel and turbo will last after the map so getting them changed will probably become the new priority..

So made a trip down to BroTek today to get a custom Shark Performance remap with EGR and ASV delete.. Want to give a big thanks to Mark from BroTek for his excellent service and hospitality, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a remap in Scotland.. And also thanks to the boys at Shark HQ for the map..

Was told the map was effectively a slightly detuned stage 2 in order to preserve the turbo and clutch.. Still estimated to be around the 180bhp mark though, keen to get it on a rolling road to find out for sure.. Although to be honest was more interested in how the car feels to drive rather than the numbers..

First thing to note is just how much smoother it feels, even when pottering about slowly it just revs more smoothly and is less jerky.. Then the way it accrues speed is just relentless.. Whereas before it would run out of steam at higher speeds and rpm's now it just keeps pulling..

I've also noticed a distinct increase in exhaust volume when fully lit..  So I'm a very happy bunny today.. :D

Makes you wonder why you didn't get it mapped the day you bought it doesn't it lol. My boost pipe was the same so I've cable tied mine like that but I've yet to drive it. I've done every join on the top but i'm going to take the bumper off tomorrow hopefully and cable tie the lower joins too and I think I'll put a arch vent in too while I'm doing it

  • Author

You ain't wrong Kyle.. Feels so much better to drive now even when your not absolutely whipping.. No smoke at all from this map too which I'm really happy about.. Even the economy's improved..!

Yeah, I spotted a thread the other day where someone had cable tied all the stock boost hose joints to stop leaks.. So when I saw that hose hanging slightly out of kilter I thought "hmm, I can fix this.." Good shout on the arch vent too, literally yesterday I was thinking of putting a vent in to get better flow through the intercooler..

So I found something interesting today.. While removing the foglight surround, spotted that a robin had somehow managed to get behind it, and wedge itself against the intercooler..
