Fabia 1.2 tsi injector problem

Featured Replies

Hi, over the weekend the car started to vibrate when traveling in gear so i stopped and got towed to my mechanic. He said the first cylinder injector had failed and I need to buy a replacement. Is there a difference between the 86bhp and 105bhp models, as I have the 105bhp model but have read that the injectors are the same for both models. I dont want to go through Skoda as they are quite pricy and I would rather buy the same elsewhere but cheaper. The car is 2010 build but we only get a 2 year warranty over here.

Reading some of the other topics, I noticed exhaust valve failure is commons on the 1.2tsi cars, which causes the ecu to shutdown the injector. I have spoken to my mechanic on how he derived that the injector is at fault, but having read a few pages on the forum, Im worried that the injector might have been shut off and the fault lies with the exhaust valve. Is there any way of checking this so I could at least ask if the check has been done. Thanks

A burnt out valve can be identified by carrying out a compression check which you mechanic should be more than capable of. If the valve is burnt out on a cylinder it will be down on compression.

thanks Jerry, I shall ask him tomorrow if he has tested compression before buying the injector.

Also, I would make sure to use a Skoda original part rather than an aftermarket injector. I don't know who makes the original Skoda/VAG injectors for your model but you should use the same to make sure the calibration and performance is identical. I have known engines to run rather rougher when owners have deviated from original injectors.

If the injector has been shutdown by the ECU, then I would expect a fault code to thrown up in the diagnostic and the engine check light to come on.

injector was indeed shutoff by the ecu. the spark plug had failed after 20,000km and also cables, both of which i think were supposed to have been replaced at the 60,000km service. not best pleased, its one think after another with this skoda. i have had to have the turbo looked at and timing chain replaced, luckily under guarantee. while searching for the current fault, mechanic noticed turbo seal leak with some 300ml of oil in the manifold i think. again not pleased as car is lightly used even had to have intake flaps cleaned as they said at skoda not being used hard enough.

Hi fabia_2010, sorry to hear of the niggles you have. Indeed, the TSI engines must be used with some gusto to keep them in good condition. Too many very short trips doesn't do them any good either. My neighbour has the 105ps version and it's not 3 years old. He does just 3k per year and the turbo hardly ever gets the chance to do anything. He has had loads of trouble with it, but purely because he hardly ever gets the engine and importantly THE OIL, up to full temperature, and never gives it any work to do. When I drove it recently it spluttered at 3k revs as he never takes it over 2.5k revs. It felt like it had never run itself in either. It uses large amounts of oil too because the cylinders are probably glazed. It has less than 10k on the clock and already the engine is fit for scrap!

but turbo shouldnt fail after 80,000kms. ok its not failed yet but said to be leaking some oil into the manifold. the car is always warmed up until the light goes out and does get taken to 3 or 4k rpm during overtaking but never more. the turbo itself has had an easy life so shouldnt be failing. to be honest its a very small turbo compared to those ive seen in other cars. i dont know at what pressure it runs, or the oil pressure itself, but maybe some kind of oil restrictor bolt is required to save the turbo seals on these cars.

I have had this issue on Monday night. Fuel all over the place. 1.2 TSI Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo. Fuel injector rail bolts sheared. Injector seals split.

Garage managed to salvage most parts but with labour etc. it has cost an unscheduled £390.

Vehicle new 17/12/2016 CJZD engine.

Anyone ever got a positive response from VW regarding "Goodwill" payment? I am assuming there has been no recall.

Our nearest VW dealer who serviced the car during warranty is about 15 miles away so we got the repairs done locally as the breakdown assistance would only deliver car and driver to single address.

VIN TMBFN6NJ7HZ095504

Thanks
